Chapter 6
Everyone held their breath as a big, strong guy jumped out of the car. He turned and carefully helped a delicate hand out of the vehicle.
The lobby of Tieline Design got super quiet, with only gasps echoing through the space. There was only one person who could make someone like Hayden act with caution.
Finally, Yasmine emerged from behind Hayden. She was wearing a designer suit that looked super elegant, with wavy hair flowing past her shoulders. Her black onyx earrings sparkled in the sunlight, framing her stunning face.
“It’s… it’s really Ms. Guzman!” someone gasped.
Cheers started erupting one after another.
“Ms. Guzman’s back!”
“Welcome back, Ms. Guzman.“/
Hayden stood beside Yasmine, grinning. “This is where you belong, Yasmine.”
Yasmine looked around the lobby and smiled, “You’re right.” She couldn’t help but think she was so dumb, getting stuck in the Zimmerman residence and begging for Sebastian’s attention.
Yasmine finally got it. The three–year bet was just her family’s way of giving her a backup plan.
“Yasmine, I gotta warn you,” Hayden said, his smile fading. “You built Tieline Design from scratch. We kept it going while you were gone, but last year, Bruce’s side suddenly wanted in. So… you see where this is going.”
Yasmine raised an eyebrow and snorted, “It’s been three years, and Bruce’s side still can’t behave.” They wanted to mess with her company. She doubted that.
With Hayden by her side, Yasmine walked into the company. She spotted a chubby face in the crowd of excited employees and smirked. “Long time no see, Bruce. When did you get into design?”
Bruce Guzman’s face turned bright red as he glared at Yasmine. With a loud snort, he stomped off. Years of living easy had turned him into a bloated mess. His wobbling figure looked like an overstuffed sausage.
Hayden muttered, “He’s middle–aged and still eats like he’s starving. Eww, he looks like a pig.”
Yasmine rolled her eyes. “Pigs are way cuter than him.”
Hayden burst into laughter.
After getting the staff back to work, Hayden took Yasmine to her old office. “How is this? I kept your office just like you left it. Bruce tried to barge in a few times, but I kicked him right back out.”
Yasmine looked around. The office was perfectly maintained, but the decor she used to love now looked tacky to her.
People change. What they love today might disgust them tomorrow whether it’s room decorations or people. Time changes everything.
Seeing Yasmine’s expression, Hayden knew she was thinking about the past. “The Zimmermans will find out your true identity soon,” he said. “After all, we’re too powerful…”
Yasmine cut him off. “Save the speech. Get to the point.”
“So, what’s your plan?” he asked..
Yasmine curled her lips. “Let’s keep Sebastian busy so he won’t have time to think about me.”
