Chapter 11
With each step closer to home, the more convinced I became I was being followed. Naturally my mind went to Noah. He had only ever tormented me in school but that mile had changed when he came into the diner all those weeks ago, I hadn’t seen him but he had left the gifts.
Glancing behind me, I gasped when I saw someone further down the road. I couldn’t make out any features thanks to the fact it was dark but was enough to make me pick up my pace. However, as my pace picked up, so did the person following me until I found myself running, cold fear gripping my heart.
I wasn’t much of a runner but here I was, sprinting through the streets, forcing myself not to look back. The house came into view soon enough, still dark and empty but hopefully safe. My panic got the better of me and I threw all caution to the wind, not caring that there was a car coming up the street as i
bolted out onto the road.
My senses quickly came back to me as the truck came to a screeching halt merely inches from me.
“Jesus Christ Ellie! Aiden was out of the truck before I could comprehend that I had nearly been hit by his truck. What the hell are you doing?”
His face was set in a hard glare, brows pinched in the middle as he looked over me.
“Sorry…” I panted, looking past him from the way I had just come, trying to see if I was still being followed. “I was out for a walk and someone was following me and I got scared…”
“Hey, hey it’s okay. His gaze softened when I let out a sob. He stepped in without hesitation, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me against his solid body. “You’re safe. Just breathe.”
His scent engulfed me just like his arms did. He was taller than me and I could feel his chin on my crown as I tucked my face into his chest. I could smell bergamot, sandalwood and something woodsy and sweet as I breathed in, my heart hammering in my chest as if it threatened to smash through my ribcage. I let the air escape my lungs as a sigh as my muscles relaxed and i melted into the warm embrace protecting me.
“I’m sorry.” I whispered, not thinking Aiden would hear.
He pulled away gently, cupping my face with his warm palms. I felt his thumbs brush away the tears that had spilled onto my cheeks as he stared down at me, blue and green eyes studying me as if he was memorising me.
“No need to be sorry.” He murmured. ‘I’m just glad you’re okay.”
I knew I was staring, my eyes unable to pull away from the circuit they had created with Aiden’s. For a moment I felt safe and yet my heart skipped a beat as I watched his gaze fall from my eyes to my lips.
“Ellie!”
I jumped at the sound of someone calling my name. Aiden instantly pulled me close as if to shield me as we watched a figure running towards us.
“Kyle?” I uttered in confusion when I saw the familiar face appear from the darkness.
‘Jesus…you can run!” He panted, leaning forward to rest his hands on his knees.
“Wait. It was you who was following me?” I felt embarrassment starting to settle in.
“Yeah… I mean I was heading this way anyway. I was worried.” Kyle explained between breaths.
Aiden growled, quickly smacking Kyle upside the head.
“Ow!” Kyle yelped, rubbing the back of his head, an incredulous fire in his eyes. “What was that for?”
“You scared the living daylights out of Ellie you idiot!” Aiden snapped back.
“Sorry!” Kyle grumbled, still rubbing his head.
“It’s okay.” I finally spoke up, my voice quiet despite me attempting to put some courage in it. ‘I shouldn’t have overreacted.”

“You didn’t overreact,” Aiden shook his head, pulling me into another trig. I’m just glad I stopped before I turned you into a pancake
“So, you’re not mad? Kyle asked.
“No.” I replied, mustering a wobbly smile.
“Okay great! I was really worried I had done something wrong when you ditched me at school.
I felt my cheeks heat up as they reddened. “No, I was feeling unwell.” I lied.
Okay well let’s get you back home.” Aiden sighed. “Kyle, can I trust you walk Ellie in while I park up?”
“Sir! Yes, sir!” Kyle mocked and saluted lazily.
“Okay great and then how about we order some pizza and try and not scare each other half to death for the rest of the evening?” Aiden suggested.
I nodded. “Pizza sounds great.”
“Awesome!” Kyle grinned, grabbing my hand and tugging me towards the house. “Come on, Ellie.”
Kyle practically dragged me away at the prospect of pizza leaving me to look back at Aiden expecting to see him already in his truck.
So imagine my surprise when I found him watching me with that look in his eyes that I still couldn’t figure out.

Aidan & Liam would kill Noah even for being family for hurting her… Kyle is a monster that I think she has being hiding from her brother for awhile
