Epilogue
Two years later
The summer was coming to an end and we were enjoying one last family picnic before the fall weather set in Crescent point had become one of my favorite spots in the territory. This was the exact spot Diesel brought me to on our first date, when he saw Lia for the first time.
Diesel was entertaining our son’s with water using his element. The water flowing from the waterfall was dancing and swirling in the air. The show was wonderful, and the boys were squealing and clapping. Knox was born first, and Peter followed ten minutes later. We named the twins after both of their grandfathers.
I sat under the tree with our newest pup at my breast. She was a demanding little thing and needed to be fed on a schedule. Like our boys, baby Raven also had the signature LaRue jet black hair and blue eyes. I looked down to admire her beautiful little face and felt the tingling gaze of my mate on me. I could always feel Diesel’s gaze when he looked at me.
Diesel leaned down and placed a kiss on my neck and then another on the top of Raven’s little head. “Can I get you anything?” His husky voice softly asked against my neck.
“I’m ok. Let’s wait for the others.”
“How’s my princess?” He smiled at Raven who clearly had her daddy wrapped around her little finger.
“Hungry.” I smiled back and switched her to the other breast.
Diesel showed the boys how to pick wildflowers and they crawled around in the grass plucking the flowers. The boys were strong Alpha males and had the energy to go with it. I sat wondering if they would get an elemental gift or if it was possible to get both. The prophecy always seemed to drift in my mind, half had
come true already.
Raven let out a coo and had just finished eating. She was satisfied and ready for a nap. I looked up to see Payton waddling her way to us, she was ready to deliver their second pup in the coming weeks. Max smiled hello with their daughter Clair clinging to him. She was six months younger than her twin cousins and the apple of her father’s eye. Max set Clair down in the grass with the boys, she looked like she could have been
their sister. The LaRue genes were strong.
Max was holding a big pillow and plopped it down next to me so that Payton would be comfortable on the blanket. He took her hands and gently helped her get comfortable. I couldn’t have been any happier to have my best friend as my brother–in–law.
“I’m hungry, let’s eat!” Payton said, practically demanding.
Diesel chuckled. “Now we know where Raven gets it from.” Payton glared at him.
“I’m not responsible if she kills your mate.” Max whispered to me and I couldn’t help but giggle.
Helga had packed our picnic with fried chicken, baby back ribs, potato fingers, corn on the cob, biscuits, mixed fruits, and brownies for dessert.
“Ohhh brownies!” Payton practically drooled as she reached for one and we all burst out laughing.

Raven opened her beautiful blue eyes and started crying. I tried to calm her, but she was having none of that Her little fists were clenched tight and she was angry.
“See, she wants a brownie too.” Payton joked and shoved the brownie in her mouth.
“Awww, my princess wants her daddy. I’ll take her.” Diesel cooed and stretched out his arms.
Raven squirmed in my arms and cried even louder. I thought it might be gas and was ready to hand her off to her father, her knight in shining armor. From the corner of my eye, I saw something unusual. I thought I saw an amber flame flicker in her little eyes.
I stared for a moment longer and they were still blue. Maybe I imagined it? Or it was a trick of the light? I handed her to her father, and she settled back down, drifting to sleep.
