Chapter 33 Double Surprise
This man is going to be the death of me!
Diesel just stopped in the middle of heated passion to tease me. He was resting his head on my stomach, not moving or making a sound. What is he doing? Taking a nap on me?
I felt Lia stir inside of me and suddenly she was howling with joy. I looked down at Diesel and he looked up into my eyes with so much emotion, not the kind that says, I’m going to rock your world. Nope, this look was
the kind that says, I love you so much.
“Little one, is there something you want to tell me?” He asked.
I wasn’t sure what he wanted to hear. “Umm, Thank you for the swim lessons.” I said.
He let out a chuckle. “No, not that, anything else?”
I wanted to ask why he stopped suddenly, but Lia was driving me crazy. “Lia, I can’t think with all the howling.”
I told her.
“Mate is so happy.” She howled back.
“I’m sorry, Lia won’t pipe down and it’s driving me crazy.” I told him.
“She’s probably just as happy about our pup as Duke is!” He said.
“OUR WHAT?” Did he just say… pup?
Diesel pulled me into his chest and buried his head in my neck. He inhaled deeply. “That would explain the change in your scent.” He smiled.
“Is it true?” I asked Lia.
“Oh yeah!” She howled back.
“How did I not know?” I said in disbelief.
Diesel smiled from ear to ear and was pulsating happiness in his powerful aura. I froze with fear and uncertainty. What if something happens to my pup again? What if something is wrong with me and I can’t carry a pup? What if Diesel hates me when I’m big and fat?
I started crying and Diesel lifted my chin up. “Lucy look at me, nothing is going to happen to you or our pup.”
He said.
I wondered if he was reading my thoughts again. “And I think you’re going to look irresistibly sexy with a rounded belly, carrying my pup.” He grinned at me. Yep, he’s reading my thoughts again!
“Come on, let’s go put your mind to ease and visit Dr. Ross, I just mind linked him to expect us.”
Diesel wrapped a big fluffy robe around me and a towel around his wet swim shorts. He scooped me up and carried me upstairs to the south wing to see Dr. Ross. We were greeted by nurse Nelly who escorted us into
an exam room.
Dr. Ross stepped into the room and started examining me. He took my temperature, pulse, and blood pressure. He then asked nurse Nelly to draw a vile of blood for testing. Diesel stood next to me the entire time

watching every little move.
“Are you ready to see to see this little guy or girl?” Dr. Ross asked as he wheeled over an ultrasound machine next to my bed. I nodded my head and laid back while Dr. Ross squirted some gel on my stomach. “Have you been having pregnancy symptoms?” He asked as he turned on the machine.
“A little bit of nausea recently and feeling a little tired.” I said.
“Well that’s normal.” He said and placed the paddle on my stomach moving it around. “Alpha pregnancies are shorter than other wolf pregnancies and take more energy. You’re about three weeks pregnant and should be holding the pups in about three more months.” He smiled.
“Pups?” Diesel asked.
Dr. Ross smiled at us. “Congratulations, you have two healthy looking pups on the way”
“TWINS!” Lia yipped.
I was still in shock when Diesel carried me back to our bedroom and laid me on the bed. He started a warm fire and just as he finished, there was a knock at the door. “I had Helga send dinner up so we can stay in and
get some rest.” He told me.
Dinner smelled great; I was feeling famished. Diesel sat on the bed with me and he fed the both of us. We had roast beef, with potatoes, carrots, celery and onions, spinach salad and chocolate mousse for dessert. I laid on Diesel’s chest as he rubbed circles on my back. My tummy was full, and my eyes were heavy with sleep. I felt him jerk and tense up. I opened my eyes and Diesel’s eyes were glazed over while he was mind linking
with someone.
“Lucy, I need to head to the southern border we have a rogue problem. It shouldn’t take me too long, but just in case, Payton and Megan are on their way to stay with you.”
There was a knock on the door and Payton walked in followed by a smiling Megan. Payton jumped on the bed. “Slumber party.” She laughed. Megan also joined her.
I was rarely ever left alone. Now that I’m pregnant, Diesel was definitely going to be overprotective. I mind linked Diesel, “Don’t tell anyone about the pups/yet. I want to do it when we’re all together.”
“Sounds like plan, now get some rest.” He linked back and kissed me before he left.
“I’ve arranged to have Ana from the spa come over with a few others tomorrow for a girls spa day.” Payton said as she fluffed pillows next to me.
Megan also laid down on the other side of me. “Ohhh, sounds wonderful.” She squealed.
I fell asleep almost as soon as my head hit the pillow, but I didn’t stay asleep for very long. I was dreaming of the hole again and woke up. I looked around the room in a daze for a moment and then remembered that Diesel was away at the southern border.
I thought I had imagined hearing the doorknob shake, but when I looked, I saw that it was clearly jiggling. Someone was trying to open the door from the other side. Payton must have locked the door. I didn’t want to wake anyone up, it was probably just Diesel checking up on me. I mind linked him. “Hi.”
“Hi, you’re awake? Is everything okay?” Diesel linked back.
“Yes, I’m just trying to slide out from between Payton and Megan to open the door for you.” I said.

“Lucy, I’m still at the border.” He said.
“I think someone is outside the door. The handle was jiggling.” I told him.
“Don’t open the door.” That was the last thing I heard before a loud howl rang out from the southern end of
our territory.
Payton quickly jumped out of bed and shifted midair into her black Alpha wolf! She went to the door and sniffed, she was snarling and growling. I had absolutely no idea what had just happened, and I couldn’t mind link with her yet. Payton stood in front of the door as if expecting someone to come through it. I walked over
to her.
“It’s okay, anyone comes through that door and I will light them up.” She nodded her wolf head at me. “It’s that scent again.” Lia told me and she was on edge ready to attack. I took a deep breath and she was right, fresh cut grass and oak! But how?
“Lucy, were here.” Called Diesel from the other side of the door.
I unlocked the door and was instantly pulled into Diesel’s chest. Megan was hugging Elliot and looked confused. Max looked around the room and grabbed a blanket to cover the black wolf standing with us. Payton shifted back and wrapped the blanket around herself while max held tight to her with his head buried
in her neck.
“Zeke is running perimeter right now; someone must be working with him!” Diesel growled.
“With who?” Megan asked.
“I’ll fill you in, in the morning.” An exhausted looking Elliot told her.
I felt like everyone knew something I didn’t. Was Ranger here? Was he able to change his scent or was there a traitor in the castle helping him? Why would he work with rogues, they killed his mother?
I saw a crumbled up piece of paper in Diesel’s hand. “What is that?”
“It’s nothing, we need to get you back to bed and I’m going to have a guard placed outside of our door.” He said and shoved the paper in his pocket.
It was just after midnight and I was exhausted. Diesel locked the door and laid in bed behind me, spooning me. His head was buried in my neck scenting me as he calmed himself down, and his hand slid over to my almost flat stomach.
The sun was rising, and Diesel joined me in the shower before we go down to breakfast. I wanted to take my time and finish what he started yesterday in the grotto, but Diesel was on edge and seemed to be lost in thoughts. The Luna ceremony was tomorrow, and we had so much going on today.
ed to know We sat at the breakfast table and Vannica went over the check list for today. “The caterer v which melons we specifically wanted in the fruit trays, the team assembling the outdoor stage and seating is preparing for snow removal, the band and DJ have been confirmed and wanted a list of any specific songs we want played, the cake will arrive tomorrow at noon…” She droned on and on.
I couldn’t really focus, and Lia was pacing on edge. Something was off and Diesel had left without eating breakfast. Payton and Max sat with us and I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. I needed to talk to Diesel, so I excused myself to go to the bathroom. I walked out of the dining hall and towards Diesel’s office. There were two warriors standing by the door, I didn’t wait for them to tell me I couldn’t go into

the office. I was going to be Luna of this pack tomorrow and this was my mate’s office.
I opened the door and walked right in! I stood frozen for a moment and tears swelled in my eyes. Diesel was in his chair with his back to me and Athena was naked and straddled over him. His head was leaned back, and she was riding him hard, moaning. I turned and started to run down the hall. How could he do this to me, to our pups! I can’t stay here; I need to leave. My head was spinning and suddenly I ran right into a brick wall. It was Diesel’s chest and his arms wrapped around me.
“Baby, what’s wrong?” He asked with a worried look on his face.
“I was in your office! I saw you-” wait a minute, how did he get out here so fast?
“You saw what?” He asked.
“I–I saw, I don’t know.” Now I wasn’t sure what I saw.
“We would have felt the cheating pains if it was our mate.” Lia reminded me.
“WAIT A MINUTE!” I said and turned back around and walked towards Diesel’s office.
“Baby don’t go in there. There’s a rogue in my office the warriors captured this morning who wants to talk to me.” He said.
“That’s not a rogue!” I said and pushed the door open.
Diesel saw what I had, and his fists clenched tight. “RANGER!” He growled.
