Damien’s POV
“She is probably late from traffic or something. I apologize for the delay, she lost her phone days ago so I can not exactly reach her either. Please be patient for a little longer.” I pressed the phone close to my ears and apologized to Kira over the phone.
“No problem sir, I just wanted to know if she had some other appointment elsewhere.” Kira responded.
Appointment elsewhere? So far that I knew, Elena had no other plans asides visiting Kira to hear her advice on the whole shares idea. After all Elena knew nothing about how buying shares worked yet she was so eager to buy shares.
I shook my head in disdain as I recalled last night and how she had suddenly pulled up with such a risky idea, not only was it a waste of money but also an avenue for Adrian and Charlotte to know that we were ready for a battle with them. The last I needed right now was to draw unnecessary attention from them.
“Just give her a few more minutes Kira.” I said in a pleading tone,
I hung up the call and tossed my phone on the desk. It was so hard for me trust Elena, whenever she was out of the house, all I could feel was anxiety slowly eating me up. I was afraid that she would make some kind of stupid move that could perhaps ruin everything that we had worked so hard for.
That was exactly what I meant to tell her last night but my emotions had gotten the best of me and I had ended up saying something stupid, embarrassing myself completely. I groaned in frustration and ran a hand through my hair. Elena was never supposed to make me feel this way, that was never the plan Damien. The plan was to constantly remain focused but for some weird reason unknown to me, Elena was beginning to seem like a huge distraction and unfortunately for me, it would be too late to back out now.
Some minutes later, I got a text from Kira informing me that Elena had arrived. I texted Kira back, reminding her that she was to record all of their Conversation, just as I had instructed her earlier. I knew I promised Elena that she could do whatever she wanted but I still needed to know what kind of plan she had in mind.
I drifted my attention back to work and some hours later, I had covered a few papers, attended a few meetings, Kira had also arrived back to work, she had sent the recording of their conversation to me but I had no time to listen to it.
Once it was lunch time and I felt like I was actually free to listen to Kira and Elena’s conversation, my phone rang loudly signifying a call from my mother. I muttered a cuss under my breath before picking the phone and pressing it close to my ears.
“I want Vanessa back!” Mum yelled over the phone. I had to pull the phone a few inches away from my ear so that I do not go deaf from her loud voice.
“Mum, what is it this time? What do you mean by you want Vanessa back?” I asked in a dry tone. I was too tired to go back and forth with my mother about something I had already made clear to her.
“You heard me right Damien! I said i want Vanessa back and i want you to listen to me!” My mother snapped at me.
Her voice was laced with so much anger that the only thing I could think of was Elena, what had Elena done to my mother this time to get her so fungus?
I sighed heavily and rubbed the back of my neck in frustration.
“Mum, you of all people know that Vanessa has a life of her own. You can not just go around summoning people like they are your servants or something. They have lives too.” I explained to her in a calm tone.
Theard my mother scoff over the phone.
*I am sure Vanessa would not mind if I called her to come over right now. I am only taking permission from you because I beliaus it is the do. Vanessa is selfless, she would travel a thousand miles just to help me. My mother whined,
I sighed heavily, this definetly had somellung to do with Elena. My minther’s exaggerations were too much.
“What about Elenay How do you expect my wife to feel abouil bringing sam, fandom lady home all the time Understand at sald with a slight shrug

I was only trying to reason with her but none of that seemed to even be working. It looked like she had made up her mind already.
“Elena my foot! I refuse to accept that woman as your wife! She is a selfish, inconsiderate and heartless woman Damien, I can not believe you married such a woman like that.” My mother cried out.
Her choice of words to describe Elena had already cleared my observations, it was true that Elena and my mother had gotten into some sort of fight.
“Can we at least talk about this when I get home? I am sort of in the middle of work right now. I need to focus mum.” I said.
My mother cursed at me. “No way! You have to listen to me now! For goodness sake Damien, why can you not just divorce that woman? What does she have on you? Are you indebted to her family or what?” She yelled at me.

We are bound by a contract, I wanted to tell my mother that so she would understand my feelings from that moment on but at the same time I knew she would be extremely disappointed in me so I kept it to myself.
“Leave her to me mother. I know the best way to handle her.”
