Chapter 16
Helt anger and resentment towards Damien, especially by his choice of words. I tried so hard to understand him by trying to think he him but no mothe how hard I tried, I just found it extremely difficult to understand. He was clearly being inconsiderate towards me.
Due to the resentment I felt, I could not stand sharing a rem with him, had to sleep in the living room on the couch. I badly wanted to leave the house too but I know I could not, not under Damien’s watch.
I sighed as a loud knock on the door echoed, interrupting the peaceful silence, I groaned in frustration as the knock grew louder. My eyes darted towardi the wall clock and the time was only a few minutes after Gam. Who the hell would be at our house at such time of the day
I sluggishly rose to my feet and walked towards the door to peep through the door hole. To my uttermost surprise, I was taken aback in shock as my eyes settled on the culprit. It was no one else but Damien’s mother standing confidently by the door with that bitch, Vanessa holding some luggage
or wash over me as my eyes settled on the both of them. I contemplated whether to pretend that I had not heard the knock or to open the door
I felt anger
for them.
“Who is at the door?” Damien yelled, his loud voice startling me. I turned around to gaze at him dressed in a black tuxedo and a black briefcase clutched tight to his hands. The last thing I wanted to do was have any conversation with Damien, I ignored him and opened the door widely to reveal his mother and Vanessa.
“I hope that answers your question.” I muttered to myself Damien was just as surprised as I was, he rushed to the front door with his eyes wide open. “Mum? What are you doing here so early? I thought we agreed that I would pick you up from your place aher work?” Damien raised a brow at her.
“Oh baby, I was too excited to wait, plus Vanessa was kind enough to drive me all the way here and even help me with my luggages. His mother smiled. 1 felt irritated at her stylish way of making Vanessa seem like the superhero here.
Damien cleared his throat, his eyes darted towards Vanessa’s direction and I slowly watched his lips move. “Thank you.” He mumbled
I scoffed loudly, causing everyone’s eyes to dart towards my direction. Damien’s mother shot dagger glares at me and I returned it back with a smile. “Hi mother, it is so nice to have you around the house.” I said feigning happiness.
“You, what are you waiting for?” She snapped at me. “Help Vanessa out with the luggages.” Damien’s mother said.
I attempted to rise to my feet but Damien interrupted me immediately. “No, it is fine, I can handle it.” Damien said snatching the luggages from Vanessa He dropped them carefully on the couch facing me and turned to Vanessa. “Thank you again for your help, do you need a ride back home?” He asked.
“Oh, I was actually hoping that she could linger around for a little while. She is probably so tired from driving and all, Right Vanessa?” Damien’s mum turned to smirk at Vanessa. This time, I was slowly beginning to lose my cool and I had the feeling that I was going to snap at one of them any moment
from nowe
Vanessa chuckled nervously. “I mean I would not mind staying for breakfast if Damien permits me.” She said with a slight shrug. My goodness, everything about this girl irritated me. She was so fake that she reminded me of Charlotte
Damien averted his gaze at me. He stared at me for a short while as if trying to read my expression. I turned my gaze elsewhere yet could still feel his eyes on me for a little longer before he finally cleared his throat to answer. “Well, sure. I guess, Although, I am already running late for an important meeting so I will not be around for breakfast. I will see you later mum, thank you again Vanessa.”
Once again, Damien had thrown me under the bus without caring about my feelings. I caught him adjusting the collar of his shirt before stepping out of the house.
I was left alone with the two witches of the west
“Is there anything you would like me to prepare?” asked Damien’s mother.
“Do you not have a job or something?” She snapped at me. Trust me, I wish I did. I hated that I had to spend my whole day with the two people I disliked a lot but unfortunately for me, Damien had restricted all of my movements so yes, I was left without a job
