Chapter 9
Elena’s Pov.
Three days
Three fucking days since Damien maanged to freeze my accounts, keeping me off access.
How the hell was I going to get through this? Why was Bamiento hellbent on making my life miserable man, name of this is fair from him
So he gets to live his life freely while I wallow in this room all day because I’m in a contract marriage? Pathetict
I needed to do something. It was tormenting petting past through the past three days without my money. My subscription to apps on my phone was cancelled, now I couldn’t even watch movies or anything! Ugh.
“at’s high time I find my way around this or else Damien would dive me nuts! I declared as rose up from my bed, with my laptop in hand
I walked over to the sofa by the window. 1 turned on my PC, clasping my hands together as I waited for it to finish booting
The moment the laptop’s screen displayed blue, I quickly searched the internet for a solution to my issue.
“HOW TO RECOVER A FROZEN BANK ACCOUNT” I watched the search bar roll and my breath became uneven in anticipation of the results.
As I scrolled through with one hand, I rested my head on the other in frustration.
None of the results seemed to be working for me and I needed to get out of this mess
The only result which seemed like a solution was practically impossible for me to do as I had no idea how Damien got the account frozen.
So what was the need to go to a physical bank when he most likely got a hacker to do it?
Seeing that the idea of trying to recover my account fell through, I slammed my PC shut in disappointment.
I stared at the window as the feeling of regret washed over me. I brought this upon myself really, I could have just refused him but then, I’d still be in prison right now
And those…those monsters would be living their lives while I slowly die.
My eyes caught a glimpse of a flock of birds flying freely in the clouds. And for a minute, I wished I was one of those birds; free and light.
But the truth of my reality made my shoulders slumped, I was just a woman fighting to clear her name and Damien didn’t make things easy because apparently, he is a meniac who was power hungry.
If you can’t beat your rival, become your rival’s puppet‘ a random quote that I came across in a book crept into my mind.
And as I thought it over and over, it became clear. If I really wanted to beat Damien to his game, I had to pretend to be exactly what he wanted me to do.
After all, he was making life difficult for me because he knew I didn’t fear him…
A slow hum escaped my lips as I thought it through “I might as well just become the perfect wife and have my way!
If being the perfect wife would solve Damien’s problems, I’d do it. At least this way, he’d stop trying to control and monitor me.
And this will help me further my revenge on Charlotte and Adrian as I wanted to make sure that they face just as much pain as they
And with that, I opened my laptop, surfing the internet for a popular blogger who was known to handle business related scandals.
“I got tea about a popular company’s business dealings that you’d surely love.” A sky smirk spread across my lips as I hit the send button.
1/3
d on me.
Chapter 9
——-………………….
I carefully cut through my pancakes, stabbing on a slice to eat
Damien walked in, his eyes ky but ignored his gaze. I kept looking from side to side before managing to focus on my hod.
Without uttering a word, Damien headed towards the kitchen.
“Da.. Damien wait.” I called out, making my voice sound similar to a quiver.
He glanced over his shoulders, surprised by my tone.
“What is it?”
“…I told the chef not to make you anything because I wanted to make you finner by myself”
Damien’s eyes widened but they quickly contracted back to his icy gaze, “Are you playing some game with
“No, I’m not.” I cut him off before he could finish.
Damien rolled up his black sleeves as if to prepare himself for a fist fight..
with me? Because if you are-
“The other day when you had expected me to cook for you and I didn’t realized I was wrong…so I made dinner for you tonight as a means to apologize.” I said, pressing my lips together to give him the impression of nervousness.
Damien shot me a calculating look, “Did you get switched with a clone or something?”
I chuckled softly as I added more maple syrup to my pancakes, “Honestly? I just got tired of the drama. A lot of it could have been avoided if I didn’t start them so you can just say I’m trying to make things right.”
Damien cornered the dining table, walking towards me, “I can’t believe you said that but I’d take it that you’re becoming rational which is totally understandable”
My stomach twisted into knots of irritation after hearing him talk.
1 forced a smile, “But this doesn’t mean I will do every single thing you say though.”
“I don’t even force you to do everything I say.”
Coming from the same man who forcefully tried to dance with me and the same man who forcefully wanted me to come plead for money. Sick.
“Sure, sure. Your plato’s here, beside me.“I gestured to the left side of the table set up.
Damien smirked before taking a seat, he rubbed his hands together before digging in.
I watched him relish the pancakes one bite after another and it made me wonder why he loved it so much.
“Never had pancakes?” I inquired with a crooked brow.
He shook his head as he forced down the last chunk of pancakes in his mouth, “Oh I have. But these are the best ones I’ve had in a while, oh my God.”“
1 beamed genuinely this time. It was the first time he said something nice to me but recalling that my account was still frozen, the smile faded.
Damien gulped down half a glass of water before proceeding to continue his food.
“I’m seriously surprised. Did something happen that I’m not aware of or you’re just genuinely happy? Because the switch up is so scary.”
I circled on my plate with my fork, “Well, love seeing people scared you know?”

Damien suddenly stopped eating as he shot a shocking glare
“What do you mean by that?
