Chapter 7
Patrick was so enraged by my words that he even forgot to comfort Victoria. He shouted angrily, “Fine, let Mr. Webb come then! Let him hear all the horrible things you’ve done, you vile woman!
“If you hadn’t sent Melanie to seduce Vicky’s ex–husband, would she have ended up being kicked out of her home? Did you really think I didn’t know about that? I have proof!”
After he said that, he pulled out his phone and shoved the chat history in my face. It showed conversations between me and Melanie Smith a month before Victoria returned from
abroad.
The chat detailed how I had instructed her on seducing men, buying them gifts, and how to handle their wives. The entire scenario was complete–even photos were included.
However, I recognized that plan immediately. After all, Victoria had used it to seduce Patrick when she returned. At that exact time, I was busy caring for Patrick’s mother in the
hospital as she was dying.
Disgusted, I tossed the phone back to him without reading further.
“Did you conveniently forget I was at the hospital caring for your mother back then, and I didn’t leave until after she passed away? Another thing–you never once mentioned to me who your first love was. What am I, psychic? If I had that kind of power, I wouldn’t have gotten trapped in the flood and nearly died!”
Patrick stood frozen, staring at his phone as he considered my words. Then, I watched as he opened messages from the hospital staff, confirming that on those days, I had indeed been occupied taking care of his mother and had not even picked up my phone.
Victoria’s eyes darted nervously. She suddenly dropped to her knees, tears streaming down her face. “Rick, you have to believe me! Why would I frame Esme when I could have lived comfortably overseas?”
I laughed mockingly and made my guess clear. “Isn’t that obvious? You found out your

husband had multiple women on the side, and Melanie was just one of them. When he
planned to divorce you, you rushed back here, looking for someone new to rely on. Patrick
seemed successful enough, so you decided to lock him down again.”
I only learned that because Melanie had come directly to me to explain the truth. She was
merely Victoria’s ex–husband’s assistant, but Victoria had spread lies claiming she was his
mistress.
Realizing I had hit the mark, Victoria shrieked in fury. “Shut up! That’s not true!”
Patrick’s expression darkened instantly. I looked calmly at him and asked softly, “Do you think I’m lying?”
a
Patrick remained silent, deep in thought, ignoring Victoria’s desperate crying and pleading. Eventually, he raised his head and said softly, “Victoria, I’m very disappointed in you.”
Victoria stopped crying mid–sob, staring at him in shock and disbelief. “What are you saying? You’re believing her over me? We’ve been together for years! I’m even carrying your baby!”
The doctor and nurses, who had been silently watching the drama unfold, gasped aloud at
that revelation.
Patrick immediately became defensive and blurted out nervously, “You’re lying! That baby
isn’t mine!”
Victoria looked utterly stunned. “You were the one who begged me to keep this child! You said you couldn’t stand Esme anymore and wanted us to be together forever. Now you’re denying it? Patrick, are you even human?”
Patrick shouted back at her angrily, “Enough, Victoria! How long are you going to keep twisting the truth? You’ve always lied to turn me against Esme, and now you’re doing it again! I’m not falling for your tricks anymore!”
Patrick suddenly dropped to his knees before me, reaching for my hand. When I jerked it away, he desperately grabbed the edge of the bed instead.

He pleaded, “Esme, please listen to me! Vicky and I were never involved like that. She tricked me into believing that you framed her. I’ve finally realized my mistakes. Please forgive me. I don’t want a divorce! Didn’t you always want to have a child? Once you’re well again, let’s have a baby, okay?”
I glared coldly at him, then slapped him hard across the face. “You disgust me.”
Patrick held his cheek, eyes turning red. Admittedly, he was handsome, and his tear–filled expression could soften anyone’s heart. However, I was not the naive woman I used to be.
Without hesitation, I slapped him again. “You’ve always wanted it both ways, don’t you? Acting like a devoted husband while obsessing over your first love. Do you think you deserve both women? Since you want Victoria so badly, why shouldn’t I let you two be together?”
Suddenly, Victoria began hitting her own stomach violently, screaming hysterically. “Fine! If you don’t want this child, I’ll get rid of it right now!”
She continued hitting herself, prompting the medical staff to rush over immediately, pulling her away, and begging her to stop. Patrick clenched his fists tightly at his sides, visibly struggling not to rush over and comfort her.
Seeing Patrick remain motionless, Victoria cried even louder, nearly fainting. “Patrick,
you’re so heartless…”
With those final words, she collapsed onto the floor, unconscious.
