Chapter 1
I was the founder of the Wright Group, but due to a sudden, severe illness, I temporarily entrusted the company to my best friend.
Little did I know, as I lay on my sickbed, she took advantage of my vulnerability to seize my company and my
fiancé.
With the shareholders gathered in the conference room, they were about to vote again to decide who would inherit the company.
“Everyone, Abigail Wright is currently bedridden and no longer capable of running the company. I should take over,” she announced.
As soon as the words left her mouth, the shareholders she had bribed eagerly raised their hands in support. Despite holding only 35% of the shares, she had her way. However, the shareholders who supported me refused to agree.
At that moment, my fiancé, David Lewis, walked into the room. He handed the 10% of shares I had given him to Hannah Walker.
“With my vote added, Hannah wins!”
David walked over to Hannah’s side, and they clasped hands, exchanging amorous glances.
Just as they thought they had won, I walked in with my assistant.
When I pushed open the door, an eerie silence filled the room. No one expected the bedridden me to suddenly appear at the entrance of the conference room.
Everyone scrambled to their feet in panic, except for David, Hannah, and Jack, who supported her–they didn’t flinch at my arrival.
I stared at David, who used to curl up in my arms, seeking affection.
In the next moment, Hannah effortlessly turned him around, tugged at his tie, and pulled him into her embrace. She sat on David’s lap, cupping his head as they shared a passionate kiss.
When Hannah glanced at me, her eyes gleamed with a sense of triumph and provocation, as if she had already won.
The others in the room dared not make a sound, fully aware that David was my fiancé. Yet here he was, passionately kissing Hannah. The scene stunned them all.
Everyone’s gaze turned to me, eager to see how I would handle this.
An unprecedented wave of anger and heartbreak crashed over me. I stormed forward, shoving Hannah aside and

yanking David away.
“David, what is this?”
“You’re my fiancé, yet you’re having an affair with my best friend? And while I’m bedridden, you gave her the shares I entrusted to you, helping her take over my company?”
David sneered and forcefully pulled my hand away, then slapped me across the face.
“It’s not like that anymore. Our engagement is over, effective immediately. I’m marrying Hannah, not some sick woman like you.”
Ha! So, it turns out he was just waiting for me to die so he could live a richer life with someone else. I never imagined he would turn to Hannah, my best friend.
It all makes sense now.
Before I fell ill, he was constantly singing Hannah’s praises in my ear, urging me to let her temporarily manage the company. It was all part of his plan.
I clenched my fists, my eyes burning with unshed tears. This was the man I had loved with my life. But it was clear now–he had never loved me. He only loved the status I gave him.
Hannah stood up, wrapped her arms around David’s waist, and pulled herself into his embrace.
“Abigail, what are you doing here? You should be lying in bed if you’re really terminally ill. If you die, I’ll be the one to take care of your body,” she said with a mocking grin.
“Why get so worked up? Go back and lie down. I’ll handle the company from now on, you don’t need to worry about it,” she added, then casually removed the scarf from around her neck.
Her fair, smooth skin was covered in hickeys–some fresh, some old.
“Darling, you were amazing last night. You were being so sweet to Abigail, while you were busy making love to me,” she taunted.
“Abigail, love can’t be forced. He loves me now, not you. So stop acting like a dog and clinging to him so desperately.”
Seeing this, David, no longer hiding his true feelings, spoke up.
“That’s right. Stop being like a dog chasing me around. I don’t love you.”
Looking at their disgusting expressions, my mind went blank. I never imagined they had been secretly involved long before all of this.
I raised my foot and kicked Hannah hard, sending her crashing to the floor.
Then I rushed forward, grabbing her neck with my hand.

Chapter 1
David, without hesitation, grabbed a chair and slammed it into me. The pain forced me to release my grip on
Hannah.
David’s face twisted in anger as he glared at me. “If anything happens to Sweetie, I won’t let you off the hook.”
He threw out his threats and then rushed to Hannah, checking for injuries with a look of concern. But Hannah, clearly not in much pain, leaned into his arms and said, “It hurts. Please, blowon it.”
I could feel warm blood dripping down my forehead, my vision blurring as I watched them.
One last glance at David, and I knew. If this was his choice, I would let him have it. From now on, even if he begged on his knees for me to take him back, I would never even consider it.
With a heavy heart, I stood up slowly, my body aching.
Hannah shot me a derisive look as she linked her fingers with David’s and walked towards me.
“Abigail, your time is up. Jack is going to sell his shares to me, and with the ten percent David gave me, I’ll have five percent more than you. You’re sick, so someone has to take responsibility for the company’s future. David can never marry you, so you agree, don’t you?”
Hannah continued to boast, but I could see through her act. She was trying to assert her control. Her eyes glanced toward the door, as if to signal: Should I leave on my own, or should I have someone throw you out?
