Chapter 8
Tobias Johnson leisurely pulled out a surveillance video,
“The death of Mr. White wasn’t an accident.”
“The White family’s driver was distracted by a phone call while driving, which led to the crash. As for who made the call, why don’t we all take a guess?”
He shifted his gaze toward Sunny Mason.
Sunny immediately panicked, hiding behind Aiden and Stephen.
“It wasn’t me! It has nothing to do with me!”
“Mr. White’s death was an accident. It has nothing to do with me. My father died too! I’m just a poor orphan with no one to rely on. Why are you all bullying me?”
She then dropped to her knees in front of me.
“Emily, I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have fought with you over Aiden and Stephen. Please, stop pushing me. You and I are different. You were born with wealth and privilege, but I…”
“Enough! I don’t want to hear it anymore!” Aiden interrupted her angrily.
These words had been repeated countless times since Sunny arrived at the White family.
Every time, she only needed to squeeze out a few fake tears, and the whole family would rush to her defense, scolding me in the process.
But this time, no one believed her anymore.
Desperate, Sunny turned to Stephen.
“Stephen, you’re my fiancé! How can you stand by and let them bully me like this? You promised to love me and protect me forever!”
Stephen shook her hand off with disgust and slapped her across the face.
“Shut up! You’re the one who tore the White family apart, the one who hid the truth, the one who forced Emily away from us. Sunny Mason, how could you be so vile? The White family treated you with nothing but kindness!”
Seeing the two of them in a frenzy, Tobias let out a chuckle.
“Is this all it takes to break you? What would you do if you saw the evidence of how she framed Emily, her true conniving and ugly face?”
Under Tobias’s sharp questioning, neither Aiden nor Stephen could utter a word.

They simply turned to me, tears streaming down their faces in remorse,
“We’re sorry, Emily. We didn’t know. We truly didn’t know. She fooled us completely. We thought it was her who was going to Tobias, so we tried to compensate her a little more.”
“We grew up together. I’m your brother’s best friend and your childhood fiancé. The only person we’ve ever truly loved is you.”
Aiden nodded repeatedly beside him, joining Stephen in professing their love for me,
I let out a cold laugh and extended my hands, showing them the scars that covered my skin.
“This is your so–called love? Don’t forget, it was you who personally drove me out of the White family and broke off
our engagement.”
“Whatever I owed you, I’ve already repaid in full. You’ve seen the severance agreement. As of now, I have nothing to do with the White family anymore.”
“I hope none of you ever appear in front of me again, because you don’t deserve my forgiveness!”
Seeing my resolute attitude, both Aiden and Stephen were struck as if by lightning.
Yet, they couldn’t muster a single word in response.
The love they had for me at the beginning was real.
But so were the favoritism and the harm that followed.
Throughout the years, I had given them countless chances.
It was they who chose Sunny Mason time and time again, pushing me away each time.
The most unforgivable thing in this world is betrayal.
The two seemed to want to say more, but Tobias Johnson waved for the bodyguards to drag them out.
They tried several times to force their way back in but were knocked down again and again.
I stood upstairs, watching them argue and blame one another.
In the end, they directed all their anger toward Sunny Mason.
“Emily, don’t feel bad for them. They brought this upon themselves. I’ll make sure to get justice for your father’s
death.”
I drew the curtains, no longer caring about what was happening outside.
Instead, I turned to Tobias, looking at him seriously. “Tobias, do you like me?”
Everything he had done for me far exceeded the bounds of our agreement.

“As if…”
Tobias turned his head away in a haughty manner, but the tips of his ears turned red.
I couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Flustered and annoyed, Tobias grabbed my face and kissed me deeply.
After a passionate and lingering kiss, he told me a story I had never heard before.
It turned out he had liked me since he was sixteen. He had even written a love letter and asked Aiden to give it to me.
But Aiden turned around and handed the letter to Stephen.
The two of them had teamed up to mock Tobias mercilessly.
Tobias had held a grudge ever since, leading to the feud between our families.
After finishing his story, he stubbornly slipped the Johnson family’s heirloom ring onto my finger.
“Emily, three years isn’t enough to settle this debt. I want you to spend a lifetime repaying me.”
I clasped his hand in return and nodded gently.
“I’m willing.”
The past was painful to remember.
But thankfully, I could spend the rest of my life with the right person.
