Chapter 4
Chapter 4
“What are you talking about? Stop being jealous at a time like this! Don’t think knitting a scarf will win our forgiveness for everything you’ve done to Sunny…”
Mid–sentence, they both stopped abruptly.
Their eyes fell on the “J” I had knitted into the scarf, and their expressions changed instantly.
“This scarf isn’t for us? Emily, what are you trying to do? Are you deliberately trying to humiliate Sunny?”
“When will you finally grow up? All you ever do is stir up trouble and make people hate you. You’re absolutely
useless!”
They were the ones who said they’d spoil me like a princess.
And now they were the ones saying I was useless and immature.
It was their failed investments that led to the downfall of the White and Kingston families.
It was their decision to protect Sunny and their inability to stand up to Tobias Johnson.
Yet they pinned all the blame on me.
As if, after Sunny’s arrival, my existence itself had become a mistake.
If that was the case, then I might as well leave.
Forever. Never to return.
Just as I reached the staircase, Sunny approached with a smug smile.
“Emily, so what if you’re the White family’s eldest daughter? Everything you have will soon be mine!”
As she spoke, she suddenly let out a scream and threw herself down the stairs.
The commotion drew the two of them running toward her in a panic.
Without hesitation, they knelt on the ground, using their bodies to shield her.
Sunny leaned weakly into their arms, crying pitifully like a delicate flower battered by the rain.
“It was my fault; I accidentally fell down the stairs. It has nothing to do with Emily… Please, don’t blame her. Otherwise, what if you’re not home one day…”
Stephen Kingston turned to me, disbelief written all over his face.
“Emily, wasn’t ruining Sunny’s happiness enough? Now you want her life too? How could you be so vicious!”

Chapter 4
Alden’s face was cold as he walked toward me.
Without a word, he kicked me down the stairs.
I tumbled all the way to the bottom, my forehead slamming against the edge of a marble step. Blood began streaming down my face,
It felt as though every bone in my body had been shattered.
Through my despair, I saw Stephen approaching.
I weakly reached out my hand, begging them for help,
But instead, he and Aiden grabbed my hair, dragging me outside.
Their faces were grim, their voices devoid of any emotion.
“A woman as vile as you doesn’t deserve to stay in the White family. From now on, Sunny is the only daughter of the White family, and she’s the only sister I acknowledge.”
“The Kingston family won’t tolerate you either. Our engagement is officially annulled. Emily, you’re on your own now!”
The door slammed shut behind them with a loud bang.
I was in too much pain to move. All I could do was lie at the doorstep, pleading desperately.
I didn’t want anything anymore. I was about to leave for good.
All I needed was for them to call an ambulance for me. I swore I’d never appear before them again.
But in the end, no help came.
Instead, the sky opened up, pouring down heavy rain.
The garden’s withered jasmine flowers and I both wilted together in the storm.
Just before I lost consciousness, I heard their voices:
“Don’t let anyone help her. Let the rain wash away her filthy heart!”
When I woke up in the hospital, there was no one by my side.
The only sound was my phone incessantly buzzing.
When I opened it, I saw notifications of numerous transactions and photos sent by Sunny.
Aiden and Stephen had taken her on a shopping spree, the pictures filled with stacks of gift boxes.
The bank card my father had left for my dowry had been completely emptied by them.

Chapter 4
Even my mother, who never lifted a finger for anyone, had personally cooked soup to comfort Sunny,
“So this is what it feels like to be the only daughter of the White family, I wonder what it will feel like to be Mrs. Kingston one day?”
My heart had long since gone numb, incapable of feeling any more pain.
Just then, Tobias Johnson snatched the phone out of my hand.
His expression was dark, unreadable.
“Emily, it’s past midnight. The agreement is now in effect. You belong to me.”
I nodded and got into Tobias’s car.
At the same time, a large sum of money and a severance agreement were sent to the White family,
Twenty years of pampering by the White family had allowed me to sell myself for a good price.
With that money, the White family could finally get through their crisis.
With this, I could sever all ties with the White family.
From now on, no meetings, no memories.
