“There’s no one else,” I try to reassure him.

My body trembles the way it did the first time he kissed me as his tongue sweeps my neck. I gasp when his teeth scrape my skin and he sucks on the curve of my throat. I should be terrified out of my mind to be this close to this creature but my traitorous body isn’t responding the way it should be. I go as far as letting my head fall back to give him better access. God, it feels like my skin is vibrating with his touch. Why is it that whenever he’s around I turn into a fucking stupid teenage idiot?
“Good girl,” he growls kissing over my throat to mark the other side of my neck.
When he’s done, I’m just hanging on here trying to catch my breath. When he pulls away guilt is written all over his face. He looks down at what he did and pulls away letting go of me like my touch burns him.
“Knight-”
“I’m sorry. Shit,” he grips a handful of his hair panicking.
“Hey, I’m okay,” I reach for him pulling his hands down. “I’m fine. Nothing bad happened,”
“Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. Are you? That looked painful,” I point at his neck.
“I wasn’t prepared for that,” he whispers reaching for me. “I–I’ve never had to think about it. He didn’t bite you did he?”
“I mean not hard,” but there were a whole lot of scary teeth involved. He checks my neck and then looks at me concerned. I feel my face heat up. “What?”
“You-“he shakes his head. “You just let me do that to you,”
I cover my mouth with both hands and burst into laughter. I can feel my face getting super hot.
“How is this my fault?” I choke out between laughs. He pulls me close and shakes his head.
“You don’t let anyone do that to you all the time, right?” he whispers. The tone is empty. He knows the answer, but he needs to hear me say it.
“I haven’t let anyone touch me since-“I say it so lowly. I clear my throat to say it better, but when I look up at me he’s staring back at me.
“Why not?” he asks. There’s a smug look on his stupid beautiful face.
“You’re-” god, he has the fucking ego of a jackass. That’s going to be a problem.
“You’re?” he presses.
“Why are you being a dick? I’ve been nothing but nice to you,” I sigh.
“Tell me,” he insists. “And then I can take you and our kids for some ice cream,”
“For future reference, that’s not an even trade. But I’m scared that you might hurt my assinstant and he’s what people in his community refer to as a twink,” that seems to make him happier somehow. “You’re kind of a tough act to follow. It never felt right. Holding someone’s hand. The way they spoke to me. How their lips felt on mine. It was all wrong. I’m not the kind of person that says fuck it and settles,”
When I look up into his pretty jade eyes again, he gently leans in to kiss me. His lips softly brush against mine and my head swims. We’re pressed up against the corner again. I almost scream when the intercom turns on. Reality comes crashing down and I feel like a dumbass.
“Is everything okay in there?” someone asks through the speaker.
“Everything is fine,” he answers. “Releasing the E–brake,”

Chapter 30
“Okay,” the voice laughs. I cover my mouth feeling my face get super hot again.
“What is it with you and elevators?” he asks.
“Me? This is all your fault,” I’ve never had any kind of weird situation with elevators until he showed up.
“I’ll only take like a fourth of the responsibility,” he says and turns around to press the red button again. He hits the top floor and the elevator starts to move again.
“A fourth? Why? All of this is on you,”
“You’re standing here in this long fitted skirt, wearing whatever the fuck this is,” he motions my corset top. “Looking as beautiful as you do expecting me to behave. Me, the rockstar with an army of fangirls who do whatever I say as I say it,”
“Well,” I push him away and fix myself up. “Maybe call one of them up and have them explain to you that you are a fucking asshole. Thank you for ruining that moment,”
The doors ping open and I walk out.
“Phoebe,” he calls after me, humor lacing his fucking tone. “Angel,”
“Don’t,” I stop putting my hand up. He almost walks into me. “Just don’t,”
“How the hell did you manage to turn this on me?” he sighs.
“I didn’t do anything. You did,” I spin back around and walk into my office. I am more than embarassed already and I can clearly see people trying really hard not to stare at us.
“Ice cream?” Ayrie jumps up.
“Yeah. Come on,” I wave them over. Cevin stands up to address him.
“Alpha Blake. I am so sorry. I didn’t mean to come off that way. I’m mated. Your Luna and I are just very good friends,” he explains. “I assure you, it won’t happen again,”
“Good,” Knightly nods. “I’m going to hold you to that promise,”
“Mommy, you have ouchies,” Ayrie says pushing my hair back. “What happened?”
“Momma?” Aizen looks up at me. What the hell am I doing letting that idiot get away with so much?
“I wasn’t paying attention and I hurt myself with the curling iron,” the lie feels fucking filthy coming out of my mouth, and I bury my stupid lying face in Ayrie’s belly while she hugs my head.
“Silly, Mommy. Be careful,” she giggles patting my head.
“You’re actually done for today, Mama. Get some rest,” Cevin laughs. “Alpha Blake,”
“Wheeler,” he dismisses him.
Cevin walks out of my office but not before spinning around to point finger guns and mouthing pew pew as he goes. Ayrie sees him and giggles covering her mouth.
“Are we leaving?” Aizen asks.
“We are. Just let me grab my stuff,” I say and set Ayrie down. I go to my desk to get my things together. Then i go over to my drawing table to get a scart,
“Those are there for a reason,” Knightly tries to stop me.

“Yeah, because I’m a silly–silly careless girl when you’re around,” I say tying it around my throat to cover the marks.
“Phoebe,” he warns.
“Knightly,” I put my hands on my hips. “If you feel the need to tell someone what to do, address your army of fangirls. I’m sure they would love to give you whatever it is you want,”
“No,” Ayrie smacks his legs. He looks down at her. “No, bad daddy,”
“What did I do?” he asks.
“No, girl fans,” she smacks him again. “My daddy. Mine,”
“Yeah,” he smiles for her and lifts her up. “I got it,” he says looking up at me. “No fangirls. That’s not something you need to tell me and I apologize for bringing it up,”
“That’s not how you apologize to me,” I say picking Aizen up. “She doesn’t get that easy–to–forgive thing from me. That’s all you,”
“Noted,” he chuckles. “What kind of ice cream do you think Mommy likes, pretty girl?”
“Mommy doesn’t like ice cream,” Aizen answers. “She likes frozen yogurt with whip cream and fresh strawberries,”
“Perfect. I know a place,”
“J’adore le yogourt glacé,” Ayrie kicks out her little legs.
“I am going to have to learn French aren’t I?” he asks her.
“Oui,” she nods and hugs him.
“That, I understood,” he rubs her back gently.
“Je t’apprendrai, daddy,” she taps his face. “I teaches you if you teaches me better American,”
“You got it, pretty girl,”
