I turned to her directly, my gaze like a blade.

“Selah. You think your secrets will always stay yours?”

I took a step forward.

“Don’t worry. The entire pack will know soon enough what you really ought to be ashamed of.”

Her pupils narrowed. Her hand tightened around her glass until her knuckles turned white.

Alec moved to stand beside me, calm and controlled as ever. But when he faced the room, his voice was

glacial.

“She is the Luna I chose. The mate I trust.”

“If you question her, you question me.”

The whispers vanished.

Not a single person dared speak.

I sat back down, heart still pounding. My hands were damp. My body still buzzing with adrenaline.

But my gaze didn’t flinch anymore.

I met their stares without fear.

Without shame.

Without apology.

Third Person POV

Selah shut the door behind her, shoulders tight with barely concealed tremors.

Tonight, she had lost-clean and absolute.

Alec had shielded that lowborn Omega like she was something sacred. A treasure.

There was no winning against him face-to-face.

So she wouldn’t try.

She’d aim for the back.

A few letters. A few whispers. Enough to stir the blood in the Elders who had never wanted Alec in power to begin with.

And as for Leander?

He was another piece she fully intended to use.

In the flickering candlelight of the study, Selah leaned against the edge of the desk, red lips curled into a smirk, her voice cold and sharp.

“Did you see her today? Like a stray cat that clawed her way to the top branch. So proud she forgot what

she really is.”

Leander’s expression was thunderous.

“Don’t try that with me.”

His voice dropped lower, rough with accusation.

“Tell me. What did you do to her parents’ bodies?”

Selah smiled slowly. The kind of smile that felt like a snake tasting blood.

“I did what you didn’t have the guts to do. Their wolf souls were always meant to be sacrificed. Otherwise -how do you expect us to claim our place? Yours. Mine.”

“Shut your mouth!” Leander slammed his palm on the desk. The candle flames jumped wildly in the sudden gust of anger.

“How could you do something so vile?”

But Selah stepped in closer. Her eyes gleamed with cruel amusement.

“Don’t act like you care. Were you thinking about her when you were in my bed?”

“You pushed her away. Told her she wasn’t enough. You told her to seduce your brother. And now that he’s holding her like she matters-what? You regret it?”

Leander’s breath grew uneven. His fists clenched until his knuckles turned white.

But he said nothing.

Because he couldn’t deny a single word.

The next morning, sunlight spilled through the garden, catching in Isolde’s hair.

When she looked up, she saw Leander standing at the edge of the path, gaze tangled with guilt and something far darker.

“You and Alec…” he stepped closer, voice low, “He doesn’t love you. He’s using you. Once he’s secured his position, do you really think you’ll still be standing where you are now?”

Isolde stared at him for a long time. As if she were trying to recognize a ghost from a dream she no longer

believed in.

Then, slowly, she smiled.

“You’re right.”

“But I’d rather be used by him-than used by you.”

Her voice cut clean and hard.

“You, who’d sell out anyone for your own ambition. You, who lusted after your brother’s mate. You, who betrayed the one person who would’ve chosen you.”

“You were never fit to lead this pack.”

Leander’s wolf growled from deep inside his chest. His eyes burned red, body tensed as he stepped forward, hand reaching for her.

“Isolde, I—”

“You want to say you regret it?” She cut in, voice like ice. “So what?”

“I don’t need you. Not anymore.”

“You pushed me away, Leander. And I told you-”

“I will never accept you as my mate.”

She brushed past him, her steps steady.

Leander stood frozen.

It felt like something had been ripped from his chest.

And for the first time, a terrifying truth sank deep into his bones.

No matter what he did now.

No matter what he said.

She would never look back again.
