Chapter 18
The thunderous crack intimidated everyone in the room.
The aggrieved look on Nadine’s face vanished instantly.
Hayden didn’t miss the momentary panic and unease flickering in her eyes.
Jericho spoke up, “Hayden, nowadays, evidence matters. You don’t have any evidence. How could you…”
“Evidence? When you framed Romi, where was your evidence? How rich that you suddenly care about evidence when it suits you.” Hayden tightened his grip on the cane. “You’re the CEO of the Bowman Group, yet you show fa- voritism so blatantly. Be careful, Jericho. Keep this up, and it’s only a matter of time before someone gets the goods.
on you.”
“Hayden, that’s enough.” Lenora signaled Kashton with her eyes. “Kash isn’t feeling well today. Perhaps save the talk for another day, right? Surely, you don’t wanna scare him…”
Kashton, of course, picked up on her cue.
He immediately slid off the sofa and walked toward Hayden. “Great-grandpa, don’t stay mad, alright? Or your beard will grow longer…”
He successfully defused Hayden’s anger.
Looking down at Kashton, Hayden said sternly, “It’s late. Kashton will stay here tonight. Lenora will take care of him. You two, leave.”
Jericho wanted to say something, but didn’t.
“Also…” Hayden stood up, his gaze falling upon Jericho. “I heard Romi hasn’t come back to Landwin Villa. Take her home. Or I’ll kick you out.”
After saying this, he quickly walked upstairs while taking Kashton’s hand.
Kashton looked back at Jericho but didn’t dare to say anything.

After returning home, Romina took a shower and lay in bed.
Her fever had gone down, and she wasn’t feeling as dizzy anymore.
Rolling over, she saw the bag on the nightstand. She sat up, took out a black sheet of paper of fine quality, and lay down again to look at it against the light.

Joaquin Bowman, the CEO of Prima Group.
Her lashes shivered as her gaze fell upon those words.
He was undoubtedly the most powerful person in the Bowman family.
She pulled out her phone and saved his number.
Who knew? Perhaps she’d need his help someday.
She exited the contact list, and a string of numbers suddenly flashed across her screen.
She recognized it at once.
It was Jericho’s number.
After being released, she bought a new SIM card. But she knew all too well-tracking down her new number was easy peasy for him.
She pondered for a few seconds before answering.
Jericho’s deep voice came through at once. “I don’t care where you are now. Go back to Landwin Villa tomorrow.”
The things he had said in Joaquin’s study echoed in her mind.
Those slanders pricked her heart like a sharp knife.
But she felt no pain. Instead, she just wanted to laugh.
She said, her voice icy, “Mr. Bowman, are you drunk or what? Everyone heard me say I’m divorcing you. And now, you’re asking me to go back to Landwin Villa? Did I not make myself clear enough? Or you’re just playing dumb?”
Jericho fell into silence.
If Romina didn’t come back tomorrow, Hayden would probably kick him out the day after.
She didn’t know that.
He said, “I wanna talk to you about the divorce. I’ll be waiting for you tomorrow evening at home. Without a proper answer, I won’t sign the papers.”
“What’s there to talk about?”
Romina couldn’t help but tighten her grip on the phone.
She was set to get a divorce.
For those years in that cell, divorce was all she could think about.
His request caught her off guard.
“Come back tomorrow if you want me to sign. If I don’t see you, I don’t mind dragging this out.”

Chapter 18
Jericho hung up without giving her a chance to say anything.
Frowning, she was furious as her gaze fell upon the darkened screen.
Nadine was the love of his life. Now that he could finally be with her openly, why wasn’t he signing?
