Chapter 17
He gently patted her back.
“Daddy…”
“Yes?” He turned to look at Kashton.
Looking up at him, Kashton pouted and asked in a small voice, “Is Mommy serious about the divorce?”
Hearing this, he was momentarily stunned.
Romina’s face flashed across his mind.
He had to admit her attitude and actions tonight surprised him.
She seemed so determined and decisive…
“Daddy, if Mommy and you really split up, does that mean you get to be with Nadi?” Kashton pressed on.
While asking this, he fixed his gaze on Jericho, waiting for his response.
There was a trace of faint sadness hidden behind his eyes full of expectations.
To Kashton, Nadine was perfect. Her acting and singing skills were impeccable, and she took him out to play and bought him fancy toys a lot.
But Romina’s cooking was wonderful, and she was great at making clothes.
From the time he was three until he turned six, she had made nearly all of his clothes herself, from picking out the fabric to sewing every stitch.
He had always received a lot of compliments whenever he wore those clothes.
No amount of money could buy them.
Gosh! This had got to be the toughest decision ever.

Hearing Kashton’s question, Nadine looked up at Jericho’s stunning profile, her eyes full of expectations.
Jericho’s expression darkened.
He said bluntly, his tone stern, “She’s an ex-con now. Who gave her the nerve to ask for a divorce? What could she possibly do without the Bowman family’s support? She only said that in the heat of the moment. That’s all. You really think she’s gonna leave?”

Jericho looked at Kashton, his face livid. Even the air around him grew thick and heavy.
Romina had become an entirely different person ever since her release.
An inexplicable anger rose within him.
It stemmed from her change.
Perhaps she no longer loved him that much, or perhaps everything was slipping from his control.
“Don’t be ridiculous! Romi announced to everyone that she wants a divorce. Do you honestly believe what you’re say ing?”
An aged, deep voice came from the staircase.
Supported by Lenora, Hayden slowly descended the stairs and stopped in front of Jericho and the others, his expres- sion darker than ever.
“Grandpa, I’m telling the truth. As soon as she got out of prison, she asked me for a divorce. But she’s an ex-con now. How could she possibly survive without me?” Jericho retorted, his voice deep.
“Stop looking down on her!” Hayden snapped. “She’s the whole package. Need I remind you about the years she spent sewing for Kashton? Frankly, Jericho, she’s the best wife you could possibly hope for. I don’t get it-what ex- actly are you dissatisfied with?”
Jericho was rendered speechless.
Sitting aside, Nadine didn’t dare to utter a sound.
Hayden continued, “She’s exceptional in every way. Jericho, you’re lucky to have her. Yet you took her for granted. Back then, you even testified against her together with Kashton without even bothering to look into the truth. That’s a wound that won’t heal. Of course, she’s divorcing you.”
Hearing this, Nadine immediately lifted her head and said, looking aggrieved, “Hayden, are you saying I framed her?”
“Romi’s definitely gonna get to the bottom of it. I’m not siding with anyone here. Everyone knows what they did or didn’t do. I’m just saying I believe in her.”
Hayden made his position pretty clear.
“Hayden, calm down…”
Standing aside, Lenora was anxious but didn’t know what to do.
She had asked Jericho to come back to soothe Hayden, not to make things worse.
Jericho retorted, “Yes, Romina did save your life. We all know that. But, Grandpa, people change. You saw what happened today. Kashton is her son, yet she didn’t even hesitate to harm him. I genuinely believe there’s nothing she’s incapable of.”
Nadine immediately echoed, “Ms. Lambert placed the sauce dish in front of Kash. Hayden, what makes you say she
