Chapter 2
They didn’t leave until the doctor confirmed the fetus was gone.
But barely a few minutes passed before chaos erupted outside the door.
Vivienne Wynn burst into the room, flanked by her personal bodyguards.
Without a word, she yanked me off the bed.
I collapsed onto the cold floor, only for the pointed heel of her stiletto to slam into my stomach—again and again.
“Ahh-!”
The wound from the miscarriage hadn’t even begun to heal before it split open again.
Blinding pain crashed over me like a wave. I curled into myself, screaming silently.
Vivienne grabbed my hair, dragging me across the floor. Cold sweat drenched my
skin.
“A bastard like you really thought you could climb your way into the Blackwell family?” she sneered, forcing my face upward before slapping me so hard my vision blurred.
I couldn’t tell if the wetness on my cheeks was sweat or tears. I kept muttering apologies. “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to…‘
“Bitch, still playing innocent?” Her voice rose. “Sebastian waited for me for three years. You think he’d let someone like you carry his child?”
“You must’ve used some dirty tricks. Slept with him just to make me jealous, didn’t you? You think that’d make you his wife?”
She released my hair and snapped her fingers at the guards. Her tone was icy cold.
“Teach her a lesson. Make sure she never dreams of bearing any man’s child again.”
The guards didn’t hesitate.
Each one built like a tank, they beat me until I couldn’t breathe, until I coughed blood and blacked out.
When I woke, the room was eerily quiet.
I touched my abdomen, wincing at the bruises that bloomed like ink under
my skin.
And then… I laughed.
Tears ran down my cheeks.
Maybe this was for the best. That last thread of hope inside me was finally dead. I only had three days left anyway.
But the news of Vivienne’s little “visit” got back to Sebastian.
In front of me, she put on a performance like she was auditioning for a drama.
“Sebastian, I had no idea what they were doing!” she said, eyes wide with horror. “But since they’re my men, I take full responsibility.‘
“They just can’t stand her rude manner. Honestly, I know she was just devastated from losing her baby…”
Her voice trembled, perfect and pitiful. Sebastian’s expression began to soften.
Then she shoved her two guards forward and said tearfully, “They should’ve known better. Apologize.”
The two men dropped to their knees in front of me and slammed their foreheads to the floor. Over and over, until blood stained the hardwood.
I turned away.
But Sebastian grabbed my chin and forced me to watch, his voice cold and cruel against my ear.

“Remember your place. You’re nothing but a dog sent to us from the Wynn family to atone. No one touches you without my
permission.”
I nodded slowly, a bitter chill settling deep in my chest.
So that was it.
He wasn’t afraid of losing me. He was afraid of losing control.
Because I was too weak to walk, Sebastian didn’t visit me the next few days.
Instead, he had people feed me expensive supplements and personally supervised my recovery.
He said if I didn’t heal, no one could “calm his nerves.”
Under his watchful eye, I forced down all the tonics and medicine. My body slowly regained its strength.
I counted down the hours. Just one more day until I could disappear forever.
I stayed quiet, invisible, moving only when absolutely necessary.
But trouble had a way of finding me.
That morning, I woke up to the sound of heels on the tile floor.
Vivienne stood at the foot of my bed, smiling sweetly.
