Yosef thought, ‘All I did was reach out my hand–not even planning to do anything and that coward was already trembling in fear. Such a coward–and he dared come provoke me?
‘But that guy has a point–after all, Skylar never lacks admirers. Who is the audacious fool who is trying to steal Skylar from me?”
Harboring doubts, Yosef entered the office, clutching a lunchbox in one hand while holding Adam’s hand with the other.
Adam eagerly broke free from Yosef’s hand and dashed toward Skylar. “Mommy! Daddy and I brought you lunch!”
Putting her work on hold, Skylar scooped Adam up by his arms and asked with a smile, “Did the two of you cook again?”
Skylar still remembered the taste of yesterday’s meat all too well–and not in a good way. She wondered what kind of flavors they had come up with today.
Honestly, I’m a little scared to eat this,‘ Skylar thought to herself.
Adam looked up at Skylar and said confidently, “Mommy, don’t worry! The food we made today is gonna be super yummy!“.
Adam helped Yosef set out the food, then proudly held up one of the bowls like a treasured offering. “Mommy, look! Today’s food looks so much better than yesterday’s!”
Judging by the presentation, today’s dishes did look much more appetizing than yesterday’s.
‘The food may look appealing, but that doesn’t guarantee the taste,‘ Skylar thought. ‘Only after tasting will I truly know.‘
Adam eagerly handed the fork to Skylar. “Mommy, try it quick!”
Skylar hesitated.
“Mommy, it’s definitely yummy!” Adam raised his hand and said earnestly, “I promise, I’m not lying to you.”
Yosef said calmly, “Adam and I already tasted it. It’s good.”
Encouraged by their words, Skylar nervously took a bite, eyes
eezed shut, expecting the worst.
Her tightly shut eyes flew open, a spark of surprise shining in their depths.
‘Surprisingly, today’s dishes taste so much better than yesterday’s!‘ she thought to herself.
Skylar ate slowly, then suddenly remembered something. Looking up at the two of them, she asked, “Have you two eaten already?”
Adam sat on the stool, swinging his legs playfully and resting his hands on his round face. “We’ve already eaten at home,” he said.
Skylar asked, “Won’t you have some more? There’s so much food–I probably can’t finish it all by myself.”
Adam hesitated, fidgeting nervously with his fingers.
‘Wasting food is wrong, but I’d already eaten plenty at home. Any more and my belly might just burst,‘ he thought.
Adam pinched his rounded belly, his face full of concern.
“I’ll eat with you,” Yosef said with a gentle smile.
Skylar glanced down at the fork in her hand, her brows furrowing in concern. “But… there’s only one fork. You-”

Skylar was about to say that Yosef would mind sharing a fork with her.
However, Yosef had already shown through his actions that he did not mind.
Guiding Skylar’s hand, Yosef took a bite from her fork and smiled. “Food just tastes better when I’m sharing it with you,” Yosef said.
His gaze gently met Skylar’s, lips curling into a slight smile.
He spoke with a serious tone, yet there was an inexplicable, alluring restraint about him.
Skylar rubbed her burning earlobe, biting her lip as she pulled her other hand from Yosef’s grasp. “Just eat your food,” she said, cheeks still flushed. “And stop talking nonsense.”
Yosef smiled faintly. “Skylar, aren’t you going to eat?”
Skylar paused, fork still in hand.
Skylar thought, ‘I’ve used the fork, and Yosef just used it too… That’s practically an indirect kiss! Should I keep using the same fork Yosef just used, or should I put it down and pretend I’m already full?‘
