“Ember, what the hell is wrong with you?!“]
I smile with amusement, holding up my phone toward them:[]

I grab my purse and head for the door.

Then she pushes Dax toward me: “Just apologize and go home with your wife. Stay any longer and she’ll think every guy here is screwing you too.“]
With that, she exchanges looks with the others, covering her mouth as they all snicker.[]
Under Ivy’s encouraging nods, Dax’s voice comes out strangled:[]

I stare out the window, fighting back tears.[]
“Dax, you remember her measurements, her cycle, and you know exactly what she likes and doesn’t like to eat!“]
“But what about me? I’ve been allergic to mangoes since I was a kid–I’ve told you this ten thousand fucking times, but you still buy her favorite mango cake for my birthday, over and over again!“[]
I can’t hold it back anymore, tears streaming down.[]
