Chapter 5
Two weeks passed. I got used to being a walking spectacle.
Every day I told myself: four years goes fast. Four years goes fast.
I kept surviving, even forcing smiles sometimes.]
Only difference–I stopped stealing glances at Blake when he walked by.]
Weird thing was, now he’d pause after passing me
Probably guilt
So what?[]

Too little, too late.
He was dead to me now.
I walked into class like any other day.]
Some angry–looking woman was sitting in my seat.]
“Hey lady, your target just showed up.”
Before I could react, she charged over and slapped me three times.
“Sleeping with married men at eighteen! You messed with the wrong wife, you little slut!”
Her fists kept coming.
I coughed up blood with every hit.
Nobody moved to help.
One person started to move, then stopped.[]
Through the chaos, I caught Blake’s conflicted expression and wanted to laugh.]
At how pathetic I’d been all these years.]
Security finally showed up and dragged her off.
Got a disciplinary strike for “disrupting campus peace.”
Administration warned me one more incident and I was gone.
No more angry wives came after me, but I still got the expulsion notice.[]
Because I was pregnant.]

I broke down in front of everyone.
But crying wouldn’t fix this. So I found Blake.]

“I can’t help you.“[]
That’s all he said.[]
“Why?! If you hadn’t been such a cold bastard. I wouldn’t have been rapedr
The word “raped” hit him like a blade.[]
His face went dark. “You’re blaming me? By that logic, shouldn’t you blame yourself for using someone’s lipstick? For being greedy enough to drink that alcohol? Hell, why not blame your parents for having you in the first place!”
SLAP!]
Blake wiped his split lip, staring at the blood on his fingers 1 disbeliet
We were done.]
Next day, my stuff was dumped outside the gates.]
Vivian stood there smirking.
“You know what? Blake personally requested your expulsion.“]
“Said he was sick of looking at you. That you ruined his entire college experience.“[]
I listened without flinching
Vivian looked confused.
“Why… why aren’t you crying?“||
I ignored her.
Turned around and dragged my beat up suitcase toward the trees.
What was I supposed to feel?]]
Pain? Rage? Shock? Or despair?]
Those were emotions for people who wanted to live.
But I didn’t want.]
That day. I finally jumped into the lake.
On my way off campus.
The baby died.]
I survived.
Figured God was looking out for me.
Saved me an abortion fee.
So I kept going with that blood money–four thousand dollars earned with
Ten years later, Blake and I crossed paths again at a KTV.[]
Full circle.
Except
this time I wasn’t the waitress.[]
And he wasn’t the golden boy anymore.]]
