Chapter 61
But despite the awkwardness, I knew Aiden and I needed to talk. I was still no clearer on where I stood with him or what he wanted. Was he just after a bit of fun? He had to know I was utterly clueless in the romance department so why was he so interested in me?
As I had suspected, Aiden’s truck was still in the driveway and the kitchen light was on. I hurried inside with my heart leaping into my throat the moment my eyes landed on Aiden, his hair perfectly tousled and his biceps stretching the cuffs of his band t–shirt to within an inch of their lives. Just seeing those intense blue eyes and full lips had me calming down while a flurry of energy spread out through my chest and arms making me blush.
“How was it?” Aiden asked once I had the door closed and was in the process of peeling off my
coat and scarf.
“It was okay.” I replied and sighed gratefully when I was free of my trappings and turned to face Aiden again. “Glad to be home though.”
Aiden nodded slowly, watching me with an odd twinkle in his eye. “I thought I’d make you
dinner to celebrate.”
I knew he was teasing a little. He had pretty much done everything he could to wrap me in
cotton wool short of actually wrapping me in cotton wool to try and prevent me from getting hurt. Even going back to school had left him annoyed. I swear he thinks I’m made of glass or
something.
“Dinner?” I raised my eyebrows in surprise and followed him to the kitchen like a hopeless puppy. “Are you not at the bar tonight?”
“No.” He replied simply, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge and the painkillers from the hospital on the side and held both out for me. “And I thought about taking you out but I want
to wait until you’ve healed up a bit more.”
“Out? Like as in a…” I could feel my cheeks burning again. “As in a date?”
Aiden’s lips twitched into a small smile. “Yes, as in a date. Did you think I only wanted to fool
around.”
“Yeah.” I snorted before realising what I had said. “I mean no, I mean…” I sighed and took a swig of my water to try and calm me. “I mean I didn’t know. I wanted to ask you about it but
Kyle was around and I was worried I’d sound like an idiot.”
The chuckle that rumbled in Aiden’s chest sent chills down my spine and I widened my eyes in

surprise as he moved closer, wrapping his strong arms around me and pulling me close enough that his intoxicating scent of cologne and cigarettes engulfed me like a drug. The warmth of his solid body chased away any apprehension in me instantly and I couldn’t help but relax.
“Ellie, believe it or not but I want the whole nine yards with you.” He murmured as he gazed down at me. “I want to take you on dates, I will let you choose how much PDA is appropriate and I look forward to showing you just how much I want you. So please, stop worrying and let me cook my girl a romantic dinner to celebrate her being back home safe where I can take care
of her.”
“You really mean that?” I asked, blushing like an idiot and fighting not to smile like one either.
“I really mean that.” Aiden agreed as he leaned in and kissed me gently.
