99.Chapter 99
As she spoke, Irene started crying again.
Jonathan took a tissue from the table and wiped Irene’s tears helplessly. “Mom, I’m really thankful for how you’ve raised me. Let me choose who I want to be with. If I can’t even pick my own partner, what’s the point of all my success?”
After saying this, Jonathan walked out by himself.
Irene did not know what to do with him.
Cheryl told Teresa she had already faked the DNA test, assuring her that Michael’s true background was not revealed.
Teresa asked Cheryl, “When are you going to have the abortion?”
Cheryl hesitated, “I… I’ll think it over.”
From Cheryl’s tone, Teresa could tell she did not really want an abortion. She thought, What is she thinking? She just graduated from university and is pregnant with some random guy’s baby. She doesn’t even know who the father is!”
‘She’s not even married yet–does she really plan to keep the baby?‘ she wondered.
“Cheryl, you’re only 22. Your life is just starting. Don’t let a baby ruin your whole future happiness,” Teresa said.
Cheryl was almost in tears. “I know, but I’ve read a lot about it–abortion seems terrifying. I’m scared of the pain,”
“These days they have painless abortion, and it won’t hurt. Didn’t I tell you I’d go with you?” Teresa reassured.
Cheryl said she just needed a little more time to prepare herself mentally.

Cheryl said she understood.
Teresa hung up the phone and did not bother with Cheryl anymore. She was an adult and should make her own decisions, while others could only offer suggestions.
“Mommy, mommy.” Michael was munching on pizza as he ran over to Teresa, wrapping one arm around her neck. “Have a bite of pizza.”
Teresa took a bite from Michael’s hand. Michael then offered, “Mommy, are you tired?! can give you a shoulder massage.”
Teresa chuckled. “What do you want Tessay

Michael then asked, “Can I take some pizza to. Line? We bought so much anyway…”
Teresa shook her head. “Didn’t we agree that you wouldn’t go out alone, especially not to see him by yourself?”

Michael nodded. “I kind of miss Mr. Lime.”
Teresa did not say anything, but a hint of sadness flashed in her eyes.
Michael bumped his forehead against Teresa’s. “I was wrong. I love you the most!” Teresa was nonplussed, thinking, ‘Who has been teaching him these cheeky lines?‘ Watching Michael’s disappointed back, she felt a twinge of sadness in her heart. Miriam came back at night, and Teresa was still awake. She had just managed to get Michael to sleep.
Teresa hardly slept that night, thinking about whether to tell Jonathan about Michael when Irene suddenly contacted her, asking to meet her alone.
Irene was already waiting for Teresa at the café downstairs of the Teresouth Group building.
“Mrs. Lynn,” Teresa greeted politely as she set down her bag and took a seat. She removed her black fur coat and hung it on the chair, her sweater and boots along her loose hair adding to her elegant charm.

Irene never got used to Teresa’s love for dressing up, especially in such flashy styles. “Why are you so late?” she asked.
*Ten o’clock.” Teresa glanced at her watch. “I’m not late, am I?”
Irene snorted and took a sip of her coffee before slowly saying, “Technically, you and Jonathan have been divorced for quite a while, so I don’t really have much to say to you.”
Teresa frowned and thought, ‘So why did she ask me to come over?’ She was curious to hear what her former mother–in–law had to say.
