78.Chapter 78
Teresa was worried. Yesterday, Jonathan said he’d come over, but he never did.
Also, Jonathan didn’t answer calls from anyone, so she was worried he might have run into trouble.
Meanwhile, inside a car at the end of the road, Jonathan watched as Teresa searched for him. A faint smile tugged at his lips.
Seeing her anxiety, he wished that she was looking for him, as it gave him the illusion that she also loved him.
“Mr. Lynn, it seems like the opening ceremony is already over,” Christian said helplessly. “Are you still getting out of the car?”
“Never mind,” Jonathan replied.
Christian nodded, starting the car as his eyes lingered on the man in the rearview
mirror, wrapped in bandages.

As for Sherry, she stayed at home with Michael at Rosary Estates. Michael’s eyes were red because he wasn’t able to meet Jonathan to ask for a strand of his hair.
Sherry voiced, “If we can’t meet Mr. Lime, let’s visit his secretary instead!”
Michael gave her a knowing look. “Sherry, I think you just want to see Mr. Dunn, right?”
Sherry coughed, silently musing, ‘Oh, come on. Don’t call me out; okay?”
Christian had just dropped Jonathan off at his place after picking him up from the hospital following the accident Jonathan had earlier on the road.
Sherry brought Michael along to meet Christian, and they all went for a walk in the park.
Michael started, “Mr. Dunn, what’s name?”
your
“My name is Christian Dunn,” Christian replied.
“Kris…” The boy couldn’t finish his words before accidentally biting his tongue.
Christian was exasperated. ‘Is my name really that hard to pronounce?‘ he wondered. Sherry nodded vigorously, understanding Michael’s struggles. She suggested, “Mike, you can just call him Mr. Dunn.”
Just then, Sherry’s phone rang. Teresa asked her to come to the office quickly because some goods needed to be shipped immediately. Sherry promptly agreed.
She asked, “I need to go to the office for a bit. Could you watch Mike for me?”
“Sure, I’ll send him home later. You go ahead and do your thing,” Christian agreed. It was his first time looking after a child. He bought Michael a vanilla ice cream, and

Michael thanked him politely.
Christian inquired, “Hey, kid, why do you like Mr. Lynn?”
The little guy was enjoying his ice cream, eyes sparkling. “That’s because Mr. Lime is a handsome man! He’s so so handsome,” he answered.
Christian almost burst out laughing. “Who are your parents? Are they not locals?” He asked this, noticing Michael’s accent.
Michael pulled out his kiddie phone and showed Christian his social media account. He followed many interesting people, like “SpicyGirl,” “MisterWanderer,” and ” TravelerBoy.”
“What’s a young boy like you doing on your phone all day long? Watch out, or you’ll end up with bad eyesight,” Christian advised.
Michael explained, “Well, Mommy is busy and doesn’t have time to accompany me, so I just watch videos on my phone.”
Christian sighed, noticing he seemed like a kid with absentee parents. He became really curious about Michael’s parents‘ identities.
“Your mom seems like an irresponsible person,” he noted.
“No, she’s not.” Michael disliked it when others spoke badly about Teresa.
He continued, “Mommy works really hard to earn money for me. If Mr. Lime were my dad, Mommy wouldn’t have to work so hard. We could use Mr. Lime’s money!”
Christian laughed heartily. “That’s a nice wish, but too bad it can’t come true! You do look a bit like Mr. Lynn! But kid, I hate to break it to you, being Mr. Lynn’s son is really not…”

He noticed tears welling up in Michael’s bright eyes before he could finish his sentence. Christian paused, thinking, “Was I too harsh? Yeah, why am I being so serious with a three–year–old?”
Michael wiped away his tears as he sobbed. “Give me a strand of Mr. Lime’s hair and bring me for an ADN test!”
Christian licked his lips. “Okay, Mike. Make sure you speak clearly and don’t slur. If you do, I’ll get you a strand of Mr. Lynn’s hair.”
“Really?” Michael sniffed and stopped crying.
“Really, I promise you,” Christian said, hooking his pinky with Mike’s.
When Christian was a kid, he used to slur. During his introduction in elementary school, he misspoke and the whole class–laughed at him for a semester.
Therefore, Christian didn’t want Michael to be laughed at for the same reason. He hoped the boy could become more articulate.
“Thank you, Mr. Dunn. You’re so nice to me. When I grow up, I’ll make you my secretary,”

Michael thanked him.
“I’ll be too old by then! Maybe my son can be your secretary instead,” Christian suggested.
“Sure,” Michael continued eating his ice cream, his carefree charm undeniable.
Sherry finished her work and went to pick up Michael. By now, Michael was already feeling sleepy.
Sherry brought Michael over. “Thank you, Christian. I’ll treat you to dinner next time.
Christian, ever the gentleman, insisted on walking Sherry back. Just then, Teresa arrived home and saw Sherry holding the sleeping Michael with a man next to her opening the car door.
Teresa parked the car and walked over. ‘This guy seems somewhat familiar; she thought.
“I’m Sherry’s roommate. It’s nice to meet you,” Teresa voiced.
“Hello, Mrs. Lynn,” Christian said. Then, he added, “I’m Mr. Lynn’s secretary and assistant, Christian.”
Teresa was taken aback. Jonathan’s secretary? No wonder he looks familiar. Who introduced him to Sherry?‘ she wondered.
She quickly took Michael from Sherry’s arms, suddenly feeling a bit wary.
Sherry shook her head at Teresa. She swore she never revealed that Teresa was Michael’s mom.
“I’ll take Mike upstairs now,” Sherry said, holding the little guy as she made a quick exit. “Mike, don’t catch a cold.”
Teresa didn’t go upstairs right away. She asked Christian, “Is Jonathan okay? Why isn’t he answering the phone?”
“Actually, Mr. Lynn got into a car accident today,” Christian replied.
“What?” Teresa felt her heart skip a beat, her voice filled with urgency. “How is he? Was he badly hurt?” she asked
Christian shook his head. “Mr. Lynn was rushing to your opening ceremony, but the traffic was terrible, so he got out to walk and was hit by a speeding motorcycle!”
“His arm is dislocated, and his shoulder got injured too. By the time we arrived at Teresouth Group, the ceremony was already over, so Mr. Lynn didn’t get out of the car,” he explained earnestly.
