Half an hour later, Dorts arrived.
Rowan had jud woken up. He was a little down after Sophia left, but cheered up the moment Doris showed up.
Vincent handed Rowan over to Doris and left for the law firm.
The housekeeper washed the fruit Doris brought and placed it on the table.
Doris sat at Rowan’s bedside, picked a green grape, and handed it to him.
Rowan opened his mouth and took it, speaking with a happy grin, “So sweet! Mommy, you’re still the best! Sophia Mommy came this morning but didn’t bring me any gifts!”
Doris gently patted his head. “No matter what others do, Mommy will always love you.”
Rowan beamed and smuggled into her arms. “I know! Daddy said the person who loves me the most in the world will always be you!”
Doris smiled and hugged him close. “Your daddy and I both love you, always.”
Meanwhile, Sophia was driving home from the hospital.
At a red light, while waiting for it to turn green, a black Maybach suddenly rear–ended her car.
Thankfully, she was wearing her seatbelt and wasn’t hurt.
After recovering from the shock, she unbuckled her seatbelt and got out.
The rear of her BMW was completely crushed, and the front of the Maybach was heavily damaged too.
The driver’s door opened, and stepping out was none other than Haelor–the same person she had seen just yesterday.
“Well, well, isn’t this my ruthless dear sister?” Haelor approached, eyes gleaming with malice. “I just got this car last month. Looks like you’ve got quite a bill coming, dear sister.”
Sophia shot him a cold look.
She knew the rear–end collision was no accident–Haelor had done it on purpose.
Without wasting words, she pulled out her phone and called the police.
At the station, the traffic footage was reviewed. Sophia hadn’t moved her car for three seconds after the light turned green, and Haelor had failed to slow down, resulting in the collision.
“Although the car in front delayed moving, the rear vehicle didn’t slow down when approaching the intersection. This misjudgment caused the rear–end collision. The rear driver is at fault. You two can decide whether to settle it privately or go through insurance,” the officer said.
“Look closely–I’m injured!” Haelor pointed to a tiny cut on his forehead and said shamelessly, “I’m feeling dizzy and nauseous. I need to go to the hospital
The officer replied, “That’s fine, but we need to finish the paperwork first.”
“No way! I feel like I’m about to pass out…” Haelor clutched his head and made a show of being in agony. “If something happens to me, none of you can escape responsibility!”
It was clearly a stall tactic.
Mark, who was seated nearby, simply watched with indifference.

Chapter 30
He knew Haelor wasn’t short on money–he was just doing this to mess with her.
This rear end incident was just the opening act of Haelor’s twisted little game.
“If the party at fault refuses to cooperate, then we’ll go through legal channels,”
A deep, commanding voice sounded.
Sophia froze. Turning around, she saw Vincent entering through the door.
The man walked toward her with tall, composed steps.
Sophia instinctively started to rise, but Vincent’s large hand gently pressed her shoulder.
“Stay seated. Let me handle this.”
His voice was low and steady, and those few words landed in her chest like a thousand–pound weight.
She had thought she no longer had any lingering feelings for Vincent. But in that moment, her unsteady heartbeat betrayed the truth buried in her heart.
Even now, his smallest act of concern could shake her completely.
Sophia looked down, her hands tightening on her lap as her thick lashes veiled the vulnerability in her eyes.
She could’ve handled the situation herself, but if Haelor insisted on playing dirty, it would drag on and sap her energy. And with her surgery scheduled for the next day, she didn’t want this ruining her peace of mind.
So she accepted Vincent’s help.
With a lawyer like Vincent stepping in, Haelor didn’t dare act out again. He had no choice but to cooperate.
In less than ten minutes, the paperwork was completed, and the blame was officially placed on Haelor.
The insurance would cover the damages, and Sophia’s car was sent to the repair shop–it would take at least a week to fix.
After signing, Haelor gave Sophia a hateful glare, then didn’t dare look at Vincent again and stormed off.
Outside the police station, Sophia turned to Vincent and thanked him.
Vincent looked at her–her polite, distant demeanor–and something flickered in his gaze. “You’re still my wife–at least in name. I have no reason to stand by and watch someone mistreat you.”
He had said similar things in the past.
Back when her studio was under pressure from competitors, when she was at her wit’s end, Vincent had helped her too.
At the time, she was touched. She had naïvely believed that maybe, just maybe, she meant something to him.
But he’d made it clear back then–their connection was only because of their legally bound relationship.
Now, looking at the same aloof man before her, Sophia felt a fresh wave of bitterness.
She knew she could never hold onto him. But her heart–so foolish–couldn’t help but falter every time he showed even a sliver of care.
Just a little warmth from him, and all the armor she had painfully built up threatened to collapse.
She couldn’t keep doing this to herself.
Swallowing the pain and the foolish hopes, she steadied her voice and said flatly, “Revise the agreement as soon as possible. Once I a business trip, we’ll finalize the divorce.”
Chapter 30
Vincent raised an eyebrow. “In such a hurry for you to get divorced?”
