Chapter 6
Priya didn’t expect me to agree so quickly.
“Maya, Leo worked so hard to build up everything he has. If you get divorced, you might have to…”
She didn’t finish her sentence, but I knew exactly what she was getting at.
I agreed just as cheerfully.
“You mean leave with nothing? No problem. You can have it all-I don’t want any of it!”
I didn’t want it, but that didn’t mean they’d actually get to keep it.
Leonard and Priya were shocked at how cooperative I was being. They were practically jumping up and down with excitement.
Leonard immediately pulled out a divorce agreement that was obviously pre-written and shoved it at me to sign.
I glanced at it with a cold laugh and scrawled my signature with a flourish.
A slight smile tugged at the corner of my mouth, my voice carrying an icy edge.
“In exchange, you two need to leave something behind too.”
“What kind of something?”
I gave them a mysterious smile. “You’ll find out soon enough.”
I left with the police officers.
Priya clutched the divorce papers as she and Leonard fantasized about their bright future together.
They got so carried away that they started making out on the couch like horny teenagers.
The next second, five or six bodyguards in black suits stormed in and surrounded them.
Leonard had never seen anything like this before. He was literally shaking as he held onto Priya.
“Who are you people? What do you want? I’m warning you-if you lay a finger on us, you’ll regret it for the rest of your lives!”
SMACK!
One of the bodyguards slapped him hard across the face.
Priya touched his cheek tenderly.
“How dare you hit him! My husband is the CEO of Walsh Industries! If you mess with us, you’re finished!”
The bodyguards didn’t give a damn who these people were-they only took orders from me.
And I’d told them to beat the shit out of them but keep them alive.
Two bodyguards grabbed them by the hair while the others went to work, landing blow after blow from both sides.
The entire mansion echoed with Leonard and Priya’s screams.
“Stop! Please stop! I’ll give you whatever money you want-just please let us go…”
But their begging fell on deaf ears.
The beating continued until they were barely breathing, then the bodyguards dumped them on the street like garbage.

Better not die on my property-that would be bad luck!
I had all my valuable belongings packed up and sent to my parents’ house.
I also listed the mansion online to sell it.
When I got home that night, my parents nearly jumped out of their skin.
They knew I was supposed to be on a romantic getaway with Leonard today.
Instead, I showed up after midnight with a bruised and battered face.
My dad almost called the police.
I told them everything that had happened and mentioned the divorce.
My mom held me tight, cursing Leonard for being a piece of shit.
My dad actually thought splitting up with Leonard was the best thing that could have happened.
He’d never liked Leonard from the beginning-thought he was nothing but a smooth-talking opportunist who loved taking advantage of people.
Whenever Dad tried to have a conversation with him, Leonard’s eyes would dart around constantly, and he never said a single honest word.
But I was head-over-heels in love back then and insisted on marrying him. Dad couldn’t stop me, so he made me promise three things, including keeping our family’s real financial situation secret from Leonard. That became my trump card.
Who would’ve thought that trump card would become my greatest source of confidence now?
Without it, I would’ve been completely defenseless against Leonard’s betrayal and scheming.
I thought I wouldn’t feel heartbroken-after all, this relationship had been absolutely terrible.
Even though it looked like I’d won this round, the fact remained that the man I’d loved for five years had cheated on me. That sense of injustice and
humiliation kept eating away at me.
