Chapter 8
“You saw it yourself. That’s how I treat her.
“She got pregnant because she planned it. It wasn’t intentional on my part.

“Just give me another chance, okay?”
On the phone, Caelum’s tone had been harsh and final.
Now, begging me, he softened, eyes full of pleading.
But I didn’t care how he talked.
While he was still speaking, I’d already called security.
“Don’t let this man into the company again,” I instructed.
As he was being escorted out, Caelum still struggled. “I can chase you again! Just let me try!”
I thought I’d made myself clear. He should’ve given up by now.
But no–he didn’t.
Every morning, he waited outside my company with a huge bouquet.
My rejections only made him more persistent,
He even followed me when I went shopping.
Once, after dinner with Levin, we stepped out, and there he was.
His eyes lit up the moment he saw me.

Chapter 8
“Clare, today’s our third anniversary. I brought you a gift.”
He held up a box–jewelry from some brand.
I looked at him like he was a clown.

“We broke up a long time ago. There’s nothing to celebrate. How pathetic can you be?”
But he acted like he didn’t hear me. Still holding out the box.
“Just open it. You’ll love it.”
Levin had enough. He slapped the box from his hand.
“Caelum, what the hell is wrong with you? Back when I was chasing Clarissa, she only had eyes for you–so I let her go.
“Now she’s my wife. And you still won’t back off? What do you even want?”
The box hit the ground.
A necklace rolled out–one I used to love,
No wonder he kept urging me to look.
I sneered. “My taste changed. When I liked it, you never gave it to me. Now that I don’t, it’s meaningless.”
Levin pulled me into his arms.
“You think my wife’s never seen a gift before?
“I bought her more in the last few days than you ever did in three years.”
A flicker of heartbreak crossed Caelum’s face.

Chapter 8
“But Clare, you loved me so much. How could you move on so fast?
“I don’t believe it. I can’t.”
He clutched his head, face twisted with pain.
Out of nowhere, Vivienne showed up.
“Caelum, what’s wrong?”
When she saw me and Levin standing together, jealousy flashed across her face.
“Don’t bother with that fickle woman. Let’s go home.”
She reached for his hand–but he shoved her away.
“Stay the hell away from me. If you hadn’t schemed, Clarissa wouldn’t have left me!
“You’re my aunt, aren’t you? Don’t you have any shame? I still do!”
Vivienne didn’t expect him to blurt something so personal in public.
Her face went pale with embarrassment.
Still, she tried to argue. “We’re not even blood–related! Don’t twist things!”
Caelum’s bloodshot eyes glared at her.
“But you planned everything from the start, didn’t you?”
Somehow, that line caught the attention of the crowd nearby.
People started to gather, drawn in by the drama.
Voices whispered.

“Isn’t that the heir of the Powell family?”
“And that pregnant woman beside him–isn’t she also from the Powell family?”
“Oh my god, did I hear that right?”
Someone even shushed the others to hear more clearly.
