Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Kaylee raised her glass and smirked.
“That water? It wasn’t just a little sedative. It’ll heat her up from the inside. And the best part? She won’t remember a thing by morning. She’ll wake up like the obedient puppy she’s always been.”
“To sweet dreams, Sophia.”
She toasted the air.
Darkness swallowed me whole.
In the abyss, something tore at me. Ripped me apart from the inside. Every nerve screaming.
When I came to, I was lying naked on the cold floor. Blood pooled beneath me, dark and thick and endless.
“Help… me..”
I dragged myself to the door, weakly pounding on it.
Laughter echoed from the other side.
“Oh please. Stop pretending. You were moaning louder than any of us last night. Just sleep it off–by morning, you won’t remember a thing.”
SLAM.
The sound of the door slamming shut left me alone. Alone
With the pain. The blood. And the silence.
I forced the door open and crawled out, blood streaming down behind scream etched into the floor.
Ime, painting a crimson trail from the bedroom to the stairs–a grotesque, silent
It wasn’t until I reached the bottom that I managed to
grab my
and call the hospital.
When I woke up, I was lying in a white hospital room, the sharp scent of disinfectant stinging my nose.
“Sophia…” the nurse looked at me with a mixture of pity and hesitation.
“You lost the baby. What would you like us to do with… the remains?”
I looked at the small bundle she held out–my face unreadable.
“Call a courier service for me,” I said calmly.
Back at the house, Ethan and his crew returned after a long, carefree night.
The moment the front door opened, they froze.
A dark, winding river of blood snaked down from the second floor, cutting across the living room like a warning.
“What the hell… Sophia?!”
Ethan bolted up the stairs, panic twisting his face.
But the room was empty–except for the soaked, dark red stain that spread across the floor like a wound.
Then–ding–dong.
The doorbell rang.

“Excuse me,” the courier said at the door, “Are you Mr. Ethan Johnson? I have a package that requires your signature.”
Ethan blinked, confused. He didn’t remember ordering anything.
He took the large box, but the moment he touched it, the metallic stench hit him like a punch to the gut.
Something was wrong.
His hands trembled as he opened the box.
The moment the lid came off, everyone in the room gasped.
Kaylee screamed.
Ethan dropped the box, his fingers slack with horror.
The contents spilled out, dark red smearing across his shoes.
Author’s Note: What’s in the box that scares this asshole
couple so much?
