“Yeah, that’s what Jennifer said,” Donald replied.
“Since when can a grandma just swoop in and take a kid without the parents‘ say–so? Do you really think that’s possible?” Jonathan shot
back.

Donald licked his lips and said, “Jonathan, you know better than anyone how forceful your mom can be. Jennifer’s worries aren’t exactly
baseless.”
Jonathan frowned. After Jennifer had faked countless paternity test reports, it made him seriously question what kind of person she really
was.
Deep down, he didn’t really believe what Jennifer said about Irene taking Mike away. He was more inclined to think Jennifer was just trying to pass the buck.
Even though Jennifer had apologized, everything that had happened between them made it impossible for Jonathan to truly trust her.
“There’s absolutely no way my mom is going to take Mike away. That’s just impossible. Anyway, I’m not seeing you out. You can leave now,”
Jonathan said.
With that, Jonathan turned and headed back to the ward. Donald didn’t say anything else. He’d already delivered Jennifer’s message–that
was enough.
When Jonathan came back, Teresa asked him, “What did Donald say to you that you couldn’t say in front of me?”
“It’s nothing,” Jonathan replied. “Just rest up and don’t worry about anything.”
Teresa said, “My mom just called. She said my brother showed signs of waking up today, and the doctor thinks he’ll be awake soon.”
“Really?” Jonathan’s eyebrows relaxed a bit. “I’ll try to find some time to go to Jarisburg and visit your brother.”
“It’s fine. Aren’t you going on a business trip to Eleneburg tomorrow?” Teresa asked.
“I pushed my schedule back a few days. It’s not urgent. Did you tell your mom about Jennifer jumping off the building?” Jonathan asked.
“Of course not. I’m not stupid. If I told my mom, she’d probably pass out. And you shouldn’t tell her either,” Teresa said.
Jonathan nodded.
Jennifer headed home with Donald. Once they got home, Jennifer sat down on the couch. Donald took a seat across from her.
For some reason, things felt a little awkward between them, and neither of them really knew what to say.
“You must be exhausted. Why don’t you get some rest in the bedroom? I’ll go take a shower first,” Donald said.
“Sure,” Jennifer replied softly.
Donald had stayed up all night. He went straight to the bathroom for a shower. Sitting alone on the couch and listening to the sound of water splashing in the bathroom, Jennifer zoned out.
Jennifer suddenly thought of something. She got up and went to the bedroom, starting to search everywhere for something. When Donald came out of the shower, he saw Jennifer digging around the room, clearly looking for something.

Chapter 796
“What are you looking for?” he asked.
“The abortion report,” Jennifer replied.
“What?” Donald was taken aback, not quite getting it.
Then Jennifer found the abortion report from the day of her car accident. It was the report she had hidden away. She had planned never to show him. Now, she finally came clean and handed it to him, letting him see for himself.
“I was once pregnant. It’s true,” Jennifer said.
Donald took the report, stunned. He stared at the words as water dripped from his hair and splashed onto the paper.
His hands shook as he pored over every single word. Eight weeks pregnant, and then the baby was gone. He shouted inwardly, ‘Why?!‘
Jennifer met Donald’s pained, questioning eyes. She held back her own hurt and said, “Do you remember when I was busy trying to get
promoted to department head? I lied to you and said I wasn’t pregnant.”
“Yeah, and then?” Donald pressed.
“And then…” Jennifer fell silent for a few seconds. Then she made up a lie, “Back then, I was blinded by ambition and didn’t want a baby to
become an obstacle in my career.
