“I remember you had a red birthmark on your left shoulder,” Evelyn said. “Dare to let me check? One look and I’ll know.”
“Fine. If I don’t have a birthmark, you’ll leave me alone.” Peggy pushed her hair back, untied the ribbon around her neck, and turned so Evelyn could see her shoulder.
Evelyn yanked at Peggy’s collar and looked. But she froze. There was no birthmark on Peggy’s shoulder.
Peggy let her hair fall back and sneered. “Happy now? I told you, you’ve got the wrong person. Now get lost.”
“Wait. Birthmarks can be removed,” Jonathan said coldly, fixing his eyes on Peggy. “But a person’s birthplace never changes. Right, Ms.
Davis?”
Peggy’s eyes darted. She bit her lip, then forced a calm tone. “Birthplace? I was born in Nareigh. Why? Are you from Nareigh too?”
“Nareigh? Are you really not Peggy? Why won’t you just admit it?” Evelyn was still staring her down.
The birthmark could be gone, but the person wouldn’t change.
Yet Peggy refused to admit it, insisting Evelyn had the wrong person.
Just then, a voice came from behind them. “Mr. Lynn, what’s going on?”
Everyone turned to look at Lucas and Evelyn.
Evelyn froze, staring at Lucas. The moment he appeared, her accusations against Peggy seemed to solidify.
Lucas had no idea what was happening. He frowned. “Mr. Lynn, do you have some kind of problem with my mother? You can tell me.”
Jonathan’s brows shot up. “You’re saying… she’s your mother?”
Lucas nodded. “What’s going on? Can someone explain?”
Jonathan stared at Lucas in disbelief. “So your real last name is Davis?”
Lucas had hidden his real last name before, and Jonathan believed him, never checked. But now Lucas was openly claiming Peggy as his
mother, which left Jonathan stunned.

“She’s my son–Lucas Davis,” Peggy suddenly declared loudly.
The one who hurt the most at that moment was Evelyn. She said, “So you finally admit you’re Peggy?”
Peggy feigned innocence and shook her head. “My son and I are catching an international flight, and we’re about to be late. Move, all of you, or I’ll call the police, if I do, you’ll all end up in jail.”

“Enough!” Peggy suddenly shouted furiously. “Stop talking. Let’s go.”
But Evelyn stood in front of Peggy.
“Josh? That’s the name of your ex–husband,” Evelyn said. “I remember it was Teresa’s grandmother who arranged your marriage.
“You were after Josh’s money, and he was attracted to your youth. But after marrying him, you found out he was abusive and a gambler. That’s why you divorced him.
“I have enough evidence now to prove you’re Peggy. You think because you had plastic surgery and removed your birthmark, I wouldn’t recognize you? Why won’t you admit it?”
Faced with so much evidence, Peggy finally gritted her teeth and impatiently pushed Evelyn away. “Yes, I’m Peggy. Happy now? So what?”
Evelyn felt a chill run through her heart. She had once held a small hope that Peggy might change for the better.
“You only admit who you are now?” Evelyn said coldly. “You’re still the same as before–never a single honest word.”
“Can someone tell me what’s really going on?” Lucas looked at Peggy in confusion. He desperately needed an explanation–he didn’t want to feel like a fool who knew nothing.
Peggy said indifferently, “Evelyn is my cousin.”
“What?” Lucas was shocked. He glanced at Teresa and thought, ‘So Teresa is my cousin too?‘
“Wait, it’s not like that,” Evelyn said tearfully, looking at Lucas.
His face bore some resemblance to Teresa’s. Evelyn felt more certain of the thought in her heart. “Lucas, you might be my son.”
Lucas froze on the spot, feeling a chill spread through his body. It was like a thunderbolt had struck him. He couldn’t move, only stared at Evelyn.

Peggy’s eyes were clearly evasive. She lost control again and shouted, “What nonsense are you talking about? He’s my son. You know I gave birth to a boy!”
Evelyn’s voice rang out loud and firm. “Back then, we gave birth in the same hospital. There were only two of us in the maternity ward. The. babies might have been switched. That’s why I’ve gone through so much trouble to find you.”
“Impossible,” Peggy said. “How could they be switched? You had a daughter, and I had a son. I never wanted your cheap little girl.”

“I don’t understand the nonsense you’re spouting. Lucas is the son I raised with my own hands. Of course he’s mine!” Peggy said. “Lucas, let’s go.”
“Whether he’s your son or not, a DNA test will tell us,” Jonathan said.
No one was leaving without a test today.
Lucas pushed Peggy’s hand away. “I agree. I want a DNA test.”
