Chapter 770
“No need. I’ve troubled you enough with my family stuff,” Teresa said. She hadn’t expected things to turn out like this.
“I’m not afraid of you troubling me,” Jonathan said. “I’m just afraid you’ll start overthinking if you’re alone.”
If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes today, Jonathan wouldn’t have known Jennifer treated Teresa like this–yelling at her whenever she was upset, like a loser who only knew how to take it out on family.
He used to think Jennifer was just cold, but he hadn’t realized she cared so little about her own family.
“I have to help you. Jennifer needs to find her real mom soon so she’ll stop bothering you.” After saying that, Jonathan took Teresa back to his place.
“Mommy!” Michael ran over and hugged her as soon as he saw her in the courtyard house. “Mommy, I missed you.”
Feeling the wetness in his eyes, Teresa felt like something had stabbed her heart. She crouched down, wiped his tears, and held him gently.
“It’s only been two days since we last saw each other,” she said. ‘
Michael nodded and wiped his eyes with his little hands. “But I still missed you.”
“Is that so? I missed you too,” Teresa said. “Mike, how’s it been staying here with Mr. Lime? Are you comfy?”
“So comfy. Everything’s here.” Michael started to cheer up.
Jonathan stood nearby, watching the scene. It was his first time seeing Teresa comfort a child. Her gentleness seemed to be only for children.
“Mike, come let Daddy give you a hug,” he said.
After Teresa soothed him, Jonathan picked Michael up, stroked his little head, and whispered in his ear, “What’s wrong? Did you miss
Mommy?”
“Mr. Lime, I thought you left me here and didn’t want me anymore.” Michael clung to Jonathan’s neck, burying his face in his shoulder, sounding so pitiful.
Jonathan felt a sharp pain in his chest. He explained patiently, “I’m sorry. It’s my fault for being careless. I saw you were sleeping and didn’t
want to wake you.
“Didn’t the nanny tell you I’d be back soon? I went to get Mommy. I brought her here so we can all stay together.”
Michael understood right away and stopped crying. “Mr. Lime, so you went to get Mommy and didn’t leave me?”
Jonathan nodded. “How could I leave you? Didn’t you say you wanted to go to the amusement park? Daddy will take you
together, okay?”
“Really? Don’t lie to me.” Michael’s pitiful little eyes were impossible to ignore.
Jonathan thought for a moment and said, “We’ll go tomorrow. Daddy will make time for it.”
“Yay!” Michael raised his little hand. “Mr. Daddy Lime, you’re the best.”

Michael was easy to cheer up and soon forgot his sadness. Jonathan and Teresa stayed with him the whole time. When Michael got sleepy, he fell asleep on the bed, still holding Teresa’s hand.

Chapter 770
Jonathan stood by the bed, feeling guilty. “I didn’t think this through. I didn’t expect Mike to feel wronged staying here alone, to think I didn’t want him anymore.”
He had bought Michael plenty of toys, hired a nanny, and even set up a playground slide in the yard. But still, he had let his son feel hurt.
Jonathan was full of guilt and self–blame.
Teresa shook her head. “It’s not your fault. You’ve done so much for my family already. If anyone’s to blame, it’s me. I raised him alone before, so he only had me. He’s scared I’ll leave him. That’s on me.”
She felt she hadn’t given Michael enough security. She didn’t want him to grow up like she did.
Jonathan lifted his hand, wanting to touch Teresa’s hair. But his hand froze in midair. In the end, he just patted her shoulder.
“It’s okay. Let’s not blame ourselves anymore,” he said. “Tomorrow we’ll take him out for the whole day.”
“To Universal Center?” Teresa asked.
“No, not there,” Jonathan said. “Too many people. You’re pregnant–I don’t feel safe with that.”
“Then where?” Teresa asked again.
“I booked another amusement park,” Jonathan said. “Tomorrow it’s all ours. Just the three of us. We’ll have fun.”
Teresa thought, ‘He booked the whole place? How much does that even cost?‘
Jonathan didn’t explain further. “Get some rest. Are you staying with him tonight?”
“Yeah, I’ll stay,” Teresa said. Michael was still holding her hand, and she couldn’t bear to leave him.
“Alright,” Jonathan said.
The next day, the three of them got ready to go to the amusement park.
Jonathan told Teresa that he’d take Michael on some of the other rides, and all she had to do was ride the carousel with him.
Michael, a little Leo like a ball of sunshine, had already shaken off yesterday’s troubles. Today, he had his tiny backpack on and was happily
spinning in circles again.
On the way to the park, Michael held Teresa’s hand with one hand and Jonathan’s with the other. Giggling, he said, “I’m so happy right now. I have Mommy and Daddy. I’m the happiest kid in the whole world.”
Jonathan felt complicated. He never thought his kid would feel so happy just because he had both parents with him.
He glanced at Teresa without thinking and saw that her face was also complicated, as if she didn’t know what to feel either.
“Awesome! I can see the park gates.” Michael let go of their hands and ran ahead.
“Mike, slow down–do you hear me?” Teresa called out, worried.
Jonathan, on the other hand, seemed totally relaxed. He grabbed Teresa’s hand. “Let him run. Look at him–faster than most five–year–olds. That’s my boy.”
Teresa sighed helplessly, thinking, ‘Wow, this guy is so full of himself. Michael’s smart because he takes after me. Everyone in my family is

“Mom, how’s it going over there?” Teresa asked.
After leaving the restaurant, Teresa had gotten a call from Evelyn. She asked if that woman was really Peggy
Evelyn said helplessly on the phone, “I’m not sure. I think it’s her, but she swears it’s not and says I’ve got the wrong person. I remember she had a red birthmark on her shoulder. If I could’ve seen it, I’d know.”
But the woman had driven away. Evelyn had no way to confirm it.
Teresa took a deep breath. “Okay, I got it. We’ll find another chance later.”
She wanted Evelyn to come stay with her, but Evelyn refused. So Teresa booked her a hotel room and sent her 6 thousand dollars after hanging up.
Teresa stared out the window, full of worry. Suddenly, Jonathan took her hand.
He looked at her and said, “I’ll find another chance for your mom to meet that Peggy. I’ll check where she’s staying. Don’t stress over this. Leave it to me.“

“Mr. Big Start” Michael shouted suddenly when he got to the gate, waving toward Lucas across the street.
Lucas saw him and smiled, crossing the street toward Michael. “Hey, Mike. What a coincidence, seeing you again. What are you doing here?”
“I’m here with my mom and dad,” Michael said proudly, pointing to his parents walking toward them.
Lucas turned and saw Jonathan, then Teresa.
Michael lifted his chin even higher. “See? Isn’t my mom pretty? But don’t fall in love with her, okay? I already have a dad.”
Lucas couldn’t help laughing. He admitted he had looked at Teresa twice, but only because she seemed oddly familiar, like someone he’d seen before.
“Mike.” Teresa walked over and patted Michael’s head. “Don’t run off, and don’t be naughty.”
Michael pointed at Lucas. “Mom, this is the guy who gave me a gift. He’s gonna be a big star one day.”
Teresa’s eyes finally landed on Lucas.
