Juelz’s face shifted between pale and flushed with embarrassment. “Of course not! You’ve misunderstood. I truly just wanted to express my deepest apologies.”
Skylar replied, “Well, then, there’s nothing more to discuss. I’ve told you multiple times that I don’t need your apology; it means nothing to me.” She had been very clear–any reasonable person would have backed off by now.
“Very well then, I won’t bother you any further.” Juelz turned around, and his expression suddenly shifted to one of aggression.
Just someone hiding behind anonymity, and she dares to speak to me like that? Too afraid to show her face and unwilling to reveal her status–clearly, she isn’t anyone significant. In that case, I can handle her whatever I please,‘ Juelz thought.
Seething with rage but unable to express it, he felt an overwhelming sense of frustration. He fumed inwardly, ‘I need to plan this carefully. Aimee and I will settle the score.‘
Wherever Skylar went, Yosef closely followed her like a shadow. Skylar couldn’t help but retort, “Has the Campbell Group gone bankrupt or something?”
Yosef shook his head. Skylar shot him an exasperated glance. “As the CEO of a company, don’t you have anything better to do than follow me around all day?”
Yosef asked, “Does it bother you that I’m always following you?”
Skylar snapped, “Doesn’t it bother you?” She was genuinely annoyed–being followed around made her feel like a prisoner under constant surveillance. The lack of freedom was truly suffocating.
Yosef paused momentarily before responding, “If it were you following me around, I wouldn’t mind at all.”
Skylar rolled her eyes dramatically. “I would! For heaven’s sake, go do your own thing and stop following me around.”
Yosef responded with a soft hum and said, “Just call me if you need anything.”
Skylar said nothing; she turned on her heel and walked away. Since Skylar wouldn’t allow him to follow her, Yosef had no choice but to watch from the best vantage point on the second floor, keeping a careful eye out from above in case anyone foolish enough tried to disturb her.
Finding the gathering dull, Skylar made her way toward the exit. Just as she was about to step through, a voice shouted from behind, “No one is allowed to leave!”
A security guard extended his arm to block her path. “I apologize, miss, but you’ll need to stay here.” Skylar halted and waited for the individual to approach.
“I apologize, miss, but you cannot leave just yet. Please return to the main hall with me.”
“Why can’t I leave?” Skylar asked with frustration.
The person assessed Skylar and said, “Miss, there has been a theft in the hall. Everyone here is a potential suspect, and no one is allowed to leave until we have completed our investigation.”
Skylar’s eyes narrowed with suspicion. What a coincidence–the moment she attempted to leave, a theft happened in the hall. If this weren’t a setup aimed at her, she wouldn’t be able to believe it.
“Miss, please follow me to the main hall,” the person requested. Skylar nodded silently as she accompanied him back.

All guests in the hall were instructed to remain still while the staff conducted thorough body searches and verified invitations to ensure that no uninvited guests had slipped in. Skylar waited calmly as the inspector approached. “Miss, please place all your personal belongings on the tray.”
Skylar complied without objection. The inspector glanced at her invitation and read aloud, “Sue?”
“Is there a problem?” Skylar asked.
There’s a significant issue. The inspector recalled, ‘The supervisor told us to report immediately if anyone named Sue appeared, but how could we identify her without a photo? And why did the entrance staff check invitations so carelessly that they missed a VIP?‘
The inspector politely said, “Please wait here for a moment, miss.” The inspector accepted the invitation to report to the supervisor, also highlighting the security guards‘ negligence at the entrance.
