Chapter 4
I stood there for a long time.[]
My mind wandered through a thousand memories.[]
Mom and Dad died when I was just a kid, so I got shipped off to live with a werewolf family on the outskirts of the territory.[]
My Beta cousin used to pick on me constantly while her parents just let it slide.[]

I was too scared to fight back, so Selene fought for me. I was too scared to speak up, so Selene spoke up for me.
I was a bit better than her in academics. Whenever I received a scholarship or resource, I’d always split it with her.
She was an only pup who didn’t like the family training drills.
I would drag her out at night, teaching her spells and etiquette piece by piece.[]
I motivated her, painted pictures of our future, whatever it took.
Eventually, we both got into Silver Academy and officially became part of the city pack.
Sophomore year, I caught my boyfriend cheating.

Selene had rushed over before I could even react and tore that bastard Alpha and the pheromone–drunk Omega girl to shreds.||
After graduation, we shared a tiny studio apartment, both clueless about what came next.[]
Every night we’d share the same blanket, joking about how we’d take care of each other once we became a Luna.
“We promised that once we’re part of the Alpha’s pack, we wouldn’t forget each other.“]
“We’ll start with half a bed, and someday, we’ll split our own territory.”
We d been tight since we were kids–I thought of her as family years ago.[]
Maybe blood family doesn’t love you unconditionally, but I believed she would.[]
So when I realized she had betrayed me,I couldn’t even find the strength to confront her.[]
The same she wolf who used to throw hands defending me from homewreckers had become my mate’s homewreckers.[]
My complete trust had earned me the most brutal backstab imaginable.[]
When I left Moonridge, the moon was hanging high overhead, and I felt cold to my bones.]
I thought back to how Zethar and I started []
At twenty–five, I’d finally became the chief designer at ArtGrove,a top wedding planning company in North Pack]
I was working Vesper’s garden wedding, pulling an all nighter to oversee the setup, then collapsed beside the fountain from exhaustion.
Chapter 4
Zethar happened to be walking by and pulled me out.

The image of him carrying me in his arms–water dripping from his hair, those intense eyes focused on me–made my heart skip a beat.
I found out about his family’s wealth and his player reputation, which made me keep my distance.[]
But he gave up his playboy ways for me and pursued me seriously for an entire year.[]
He was respectful, thoughtful, and completely devoted.[]
That Christmas’s Eve, I’d returned to visit the Beta foster family that raised me, out in the remote, frozen northern wilderness.
No cell signal.Zethar got worried I’d passed out from low blood sugar somewhere remote, so he drove hundreds of miles to find me.[]
I found him standing on a dirt road in nothing but a thin jacket, showing up on a snow–covered peak in nothing but a thin shirt,
shouting my name into the wind.ĺ
That’s when I thought: Mom, Dad, I found him, my fated mate.
Three years together, and I never felt his love fading.
He’d get down on one knee in the middle of crowded malls to help me try on shoes.
He’d hunt down herbs for my period cramps and stand over the stove brewing them himself.[]
Before introducing me to his parents, he’d prep them so thoroughly that I never faced a single doubt or slight.]
He’d bring me to high–ranking Alphas circle and proudly introduce me to every famous pack.
“Attention! This is my Luna Laura, chief designer at ArtGrove.“[]
“She’s incredible–won tons of design awards. She designed Queen Josephine’s wedding of the century. People are booking her out through next year.“]}]
“Actually, starting the year after next, because next year we’re having our own mate ceremony. It’s going to be grand–you’ll all get invitations!”
His love was so intense, so perfect.
Which made his betrayal all the more vicious… and fatal.]
That night, I broke down in the hotel Cried until I couldn’t breathe..
1 kept telling myself–so what if I got betrayed? So what if I got played?]
We hadn’t had the mate ceremony yet, hadn’t signed the papers. There was still time.[]
I could just disappear, get as far away from this place as possible.]
Get away from these demon wolves
But i wasn’t the one who screwed up–why should I be the one slinking away?
I was going to revenge them]
Chapter 4
And honestly, what I needed to fix was my judgment, not my kindness or sincerity.[]
I didn’t do anything wrong. I’m good enough already.[]
