Chapter 6 Death of Dad
In the end, Dad was taken to the hospital.
However, even though the doctors saved him this time, the infection was so bad that it triggered a stroke that paralyzed Dad.
Even after the wound was healed up, he would have to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.
When Alex heard that, his disdain for Dad grew.
He refused to let Dad stay in the hospital and insisted on dragging him home.
Dad glared and scowled, but Alex kept acting like he was in the right.
“You’re already paralyzed. Why waste more money on a hospital stay? Rather than spending it on you, why not save that small sum for when I have to get married?”
Alex then forced Dad into the wheelchair.
Dad wanted to scream and shout, but he could only mumble and moan in his anger after suffering a stroke. After all that effort, he still could not say a single coherent word.
Back home, Alex transferred all of Dad’s savings into his account.
From then on, he spent every day flirting around outside the home, heedless of Dad’s state.
Dad was left all alone in his room even though he could barely even twitch. Due to Mom’s anger, she refused to take care of him.
Most of the time, he would be starved to the point of fainting. Otherwise, he would have lost control of his bladder, causing the whole room to stink of pee and poop.
Finally, Alex lost his patience after he peed in the living room, stinking up the space.
He packed two sets of clothes for Dad and wheeled Dad out of our home.
I followed him, asking in bewilderment, “Where are you going?”
“Having him around will only be a burden on us. That’s why I’m bringing him back to our old home in the village. That place is peaceful with clear air. It’ll be better for his recovery.”
Alex made it sound so pretty while curling his lips into a sinister grin.
The family owned an old house in our hometown. It was a tiled house that my parents lived in before I was born.
As it had fallen into disrepair after years of neglect, it was a dangerous place to live in.
Dad was paralyzed, so moving him back there was a death sentence.
Dad knew that as well, so his eyes went wide with terror.
“Y–You…”
He frantically lifted one curled–up finger to point at Alex while he stuttered as if to speak.
Alex ignored his glare and even leaned in closer to speak.
“I’m doing this all for your own good. You should be thanking me…”
Before he could finish his sentence, Dad bit his ear.
Dad seemed to be using all the strength he could muster, as though he wanted to bite the ear off of Alex.
“Ah!”

Alex instantly howled in pain.
“You old coot! Are you mad? Let go!”
Alex struggled and shouted with all his might, yet that only led to Dad’s jaws tightening around the ear.
Dad’s teeth seemed to have sunk deep into the ear.
“S–Save me!” Alex shouted.
It was only then that I moved forward and pulled as hard as I could to get Alex away.
Unfortunately, the wound only worsened with my actions.
Alex’s face twisted in agony before he swung a punch at Dad’s head.
“You rotten old coot! Let go!”
Every punch was harder than the last until Dad finally let go.
With a hand clamped over his bleeding ear, Alex stood up and gave the wheelchair a hard kick.
“How dare you bite me, you stupid old man!”
The wheelchair did not have any breaks on, so that kick sent the wheelchair rolling straight down the stairs.
Dad fell to the ground as well, and his head crashed into a corner of the wall at the bottom of the stairwell.
There was a dull thud.
Blood was everywhere.
Dad died in that fall.
Alex had murdered him. This time, he could not weasel his way out.
As killing his own father was an aggravating factor, Alex was sentenced to death.
When Mom heard about that, she was shocked beyond belief. She hurried over to beg me for help.
“Your brother can’t die! He’s our only son! You have to save him! Tell the police that you killed your father! You will take Alex’s place!”
I found her reasoning hilarious. “You want me to be killed in Alex’s place? Have you gone mad, or do you think I’m mad?”
