Chapter 724
“Mom, why does Grandma want to take me away?” Michael looked up at her, his eyes full of innocent confusion.
“That’s not true. Your aunt is just making things up,” Teresa said, giving Jennifer’s arm a tug. She shot Jennifer a look, clearly not wanting Michael to hear any of those ugly words.
Jennifer sneered, “Why can’t I say it? That old witch doesn’t deserve any respect.”
“That’s enough. I told you to stop,” Teresa said with a frown. Then she gently patted Michael’s head and soothed him, “Come on, sweetheart, let’s go eat and find your great–grandpa.”
Michael nodded, clinging to Teresa’s arm and whining, “Mom, I don’t want to be apart from you.”
“Goofball, we’re not going to be apart. Let’s go eat,” Teresa said, taking Michael with her. Jennifer followed behind them and didn’t keep arguing with Irene..
Irene watched as Michael clung to Teresa, and she couldn’t help but fume inside. On the way here, she’d scrolled through countless photos of Michael. She really liked Michael. He looked so much like Jonathan, and his personality seemed sweet
and easy to love.
But what really got under Irene’s skin was Michael’s last name. ‘Why should he have Teresa’s last name? He should be a Lynn. He’s the Lynn family’s eldest grandson!‘ she grumbled to herself.
Just then, footsteps sounded behind her. Irene turned, let out a helpless sigh, and walked over. “Jonathan, let me ask you. What are you planning to do about Mike?”
“What do you mean?” Jonathan had just finished a call, slipped his phone into his pocket, and looked at Irene with a calm
face.
Seeing how unfazed he was, Irene couldn’t help but feel puzzled. “Didn’t you say you were going to fight Teresa for custody of Mike?”
Jonathan frowned, and then replied, “I don’t want to do that anymore.”
“Why? Are you crazy? How can you just let Mike go to her like that? He’s a Lynn. You could totally fight for him. You’re his dad!” Irene blurted out.
“What good would dragging this into court do for me, or for him? Besides, she’s been raising Mike all by herself for three years. It’s been tough on her, and he’s really close to her,” Jonathan replied calmly.
Seeing Jonathan looking like he had no intention of fighting for Michael, Irene was about to explode. “This is exactly your problem. You’re always too soft.
“Why did she keep the baby after the divorce? Why is she only now telling Mike he’s your son? Why didn’t she say anything before? She’s just using the kid to get at our family’s inheritance. Don’t you see that?”
“She’s not that kind of person. You’re just making wild guesses. If I hadn’t found out about Mike myself, she never would’ve told me,” Jonathan said, turning to leave. “Whatever’s between us, I know what I’m doing. Just stay out of it.”

Irene’s chest was heaving with anger. She couldn’t count on Jonathan anymore, but she was dead set on fighting Teresa for Michael. In her mind, there was no way Teresa didn’t have some hidden agenda.
‘What is it that she wants? Money? Or is she just using the kid as an excuse to get back together with Jonathan? Either way, there’s no way I’ll ever let her marry into the Lynn family again, Irene fumed to herself.
In the dining room, Hayden’s eyes widened in shock. “What? Jennifer is pregnant?” He stared at Jennifer, clearly stunned.
Teresa’s attention snapped to Jennifer as well, her eyes full of surprise and curiosity.
Donald repeated, “Yes, Jennifer is pregnant. The baby should be due next year.”
“Just recently,” Jennifer replied, taking a sip of water. She glanced at Teresa for a second before quickly looking away, saying nothing more.
