Chapter 10
He clutched my hand, his voice trembling.
“Cassia, I was wrong. Please… don’t leave me.”
“I was so foolish before. I didn’t know how to cherish you. It’s all my fault. I can’t live without you!”
As he cried before me, I was reminded of who I used to be-
The girl who forgave Gavin no matter what he did, just because she loved him too much.
Back then, even if he made the cruelest mistakes, I still stood by him.
I gave him my love, my patience, my dignity.
But now?
I felt nothing.
The love I once had for him had long since died, smothered by his betrayal and my own disappointment.
had seen the real Gavin-the selfish man who couldn’t see my pain,
who ignored all the ways I loved him, and who crushed my heart without hesitation.
There was no going back. Not anymore.
‘Let me go,” I said calmly. “I stopped loving you a long time ago. This late apology? It’s worth ess than dust to me.”
‘I’m not soft-hearted anymore. Besides, I’m getting engaged soon. Please stop pestering me.”
Gavin stiffened, his eyes darting to Adrian, who stood not far behind me.
Tears welled up in his eyes. Regret twisted his face.
But regret was meaningless now. A broken mirror can’t be put back together, and neither can a
roken heart.
‘Cassia,” he sobbed, “I don’t believe you’ve forgotten us. I know you still have feelings for me.”
‘I was wrong. Just one more chance, that’s all I ask. I’ll change. I’ll treat you right this time.”
‘I can’t believe you’ve fallen for someone else so fast. I won’t believe it!”
A grown man, reduced to a crying mess at my feet, begging for a second chance.
Maybe he finally realized what he’d lost.
But it was far too late.
I used to think I couldn’t fall for someone again so quickly-
Until I met Adrian.
He taught me that love didn’t have to be pain.
“There are still people out there who can love me right,” I said. “You? I’ve stopped caring about you for a long time.”
“You don’t believe me.
forgotten?”
Gavin’s face crumbled further. But I’d had enough.
I signaled the security guard.
“Escort him out. And make sure he never comes back.”
What’s done is done. There’s no point in looking back.
All I could do now was move forward-with someone who truly loves me.
Later, I heard he fell on hard times. After that, no one heard from him again. A year passed.
Adrian and I got married. We built a warm home.
Now, we have a child-
ind the three of us live a quiet, happy life together.
The future is ours. The past? I buried it long ago.
