Watching Marcus’s tall, straight figure leave, Ella finally calmed down.
She couldn’t help but think of Liam again.
How did he change his mind?
She still clearly remembered the two years after returning to the Rossi family. Every time Ella
smelled gasoline, she would feel nauseous. On the way home from school, Natalie would take the
car, and Ella would walk.
Sometimes, when she turned around, she’d see Liam following behind.
He wore a custom school uniform, hands in his pockets, his expression indifferent.
Ella purposely paused for two minutes.
Liam, tall with long legs, quickly caught up.

Liam asked how Natalie got hurt. She cried and shook her head, looking at Ella, unwilling to speak.
After much questioning, Natalie finally said it was Ella who hit her with a brick.
Ella, at only 18, was slapped by Liam in public because of this accusation.
“Brother Liam, why did you hit Ella?” Natalie rushed over to protect Ella. “She’s my sister, I don’t
blame her!”
Looking back, Ella almost wanted to laugh.
There were so many incidents like this, too many for Ella to count.
Over the years, she had been numbing herself.
She kept telling herself that it was all because Natalie had meddled, which caused her and Liam to drift apart.
But she forgot, a slap doesn’t make a sound on its own.
Three years ago, when she was sent to prison, it wasn’t just because of Natalie’s scheming and her parents‘ indifference. Liam’s indulgence of Natalie was also a key factor.
Liam must have had feelings for her.
That’s why, when he saw Natalie being humiliated by a thug, he glared at Ella, his eyes bloodshot and said, “Ella, how could you treat Natalie like this? You really deserve to go to hell.”
Just then, there was another knock at the door.
Ella instinctively wiped her eyes.
Finn entered with breakfast and immediately noticed the redness in Ella’s eyes. He glanced at her but didn’t mention it.

After setting the breakfast down, he softly said, “Miss Rossi, forgive me for being blunt, but tears are
meant for the ones who deserve them.”
Ella was stunned, her pale face carrying a hint of vulnerability. She nodded, “I understand. Thank
you.”
“No need to thank me.” Finn looked at Ella, hesitating to speak. “The doctor said you can be
discharged tomorrow. Miss Rossi, do you have a place to go?”
Ella bit her lip, stirring the millet porridge in her bowl.
She didn’t want to go back to the Rossi family. The Rossi family might not even welcome her.
But not going back meant she had nowhere else to go.
Finn seemed to sense Ella’s dilemma and softly said, “If Miss Rossi has nowhere to go, perhaps you
might consider marrying my boss.”
Ella was stunned. “Your boss?”
Finn nodded slightly.
“My boss is 29 this year, still single, never had a girlfriend. He’s a man of integrity. If you marry him,
you don’t need to worry about him fooling around. And you won’t have to worry about not having a
place to stay because my boss has plenty of houses.”
Seeing Ella in shock and silent, Finn continued, “If I’m not mistaken, you must have just gone through some emotional hurt, right? As the saying goes, ‘Out with the old, in with the new.‘ Why not start a new life and not be burdened by old feelings? It could be a good opportunity.”
Ella clenched her fingers, then released them.
She understood the saying “you can’t break the old without making way for the new,” but…
Marrying on a whim, especially to a stranger she had only met twice… wasn’t that too reckless?
At that moment, there was another knock on the door.
Ella and Finn turned to look.
