Marcus ignored him, reaching out to take the drink that Caleb handed him. He casually swirled it in his fingers.
The dark red liquid in the wine glass refracted an eerie light.
Liam, remembering his purpose for coming, mustered the courage to speak, “Uncle, about that
project from Rossi Corporation…”
The Byrne Corporation is currently bidding on a project, and Rossi Corporation is one of the
competitors. Liam had promised Natalie that he would give the project to her.
But when it came time to sign the contract, it got stuck at Marcus’s desk.
The contract had been sent to the CEO’s office half a month ago, and it still hadn’t been processed. Otherwise, Liam wouldn’t have been rushing here in the rain.
Marcus lazily lifted his eyelids and coldly glanced at Liam. “Private place, no work talk.‘

Liam had prepared a lot to say, but with Marcus’s statement of “no work talk,” he swallowed his
words.
But thinking of Natalie’s request, he plucked up the courage to speak, “Uncle, it’s just a matter of signing the contract, can you…”

Before he could finish, Marcus slammed the wine glass he was holding onto the table. Everyone was taken aback as the glass shattered into pieces.
“Liam, you’ve really learned a lot.”

Liam felt an ominous premonition rise in his chest. He didn’t interact much with his uncle and usually had no conflicts of interest, so why did it feel like his uncle was really angry with him

“Liam, don’t forget, you are from the Byrne Corporation. Did you review the Rossi Corporation’s qualifications? How dare you bring this to me for signing?”
Liam defended, “I’ve reviewed it, the Rossi Corporation is fine.”
“Alright, then answer me this: There are better choices, so why give the opportunity to the Rossi
Corporation?”
Liam froze, unable to answer.
“Not convenient to say, right? Let me help you answer. It’s because the Rossi Corporation has someone who requested this from you. Do you need me to publicly say who that person is?”
Liam’s face turned pale. The people present were all young elites from wealthy families, many of whom were familiar with him, often relying on him.
Marcus’s few words, seemingly about business, were actually pushing Liam down, making him lose
all face.
How was he supposed to hold his ground in this crowd after that?
Beside them, Caleb, realizing something, casually commented while eating sunflower seeds,
“Liam, you’re here asking your uncle for help over a pretty woman? No wonder Ella wants to break up with you, you’ve been so obvious with your mistress, who can stand it?”
Mentioning “breaking the engagement,” Liam’s face darkened.
He argued darkly, “Natalie is not a mistress.”
Marcus sneered, “Secretly meeting someone, and she’s not a mistress?”
Liam choked, unable to say another word.
It dawned on him later. Was his uncle so angry tonight because he had heard about what happened at the Rossi family?

But Uncle never liked interfering in family matters. What was going on?
Liam thought it over, and it seemed it was probably because of the Byrne family’s reputation.
Ella had publicly announced the breakup, and if that got out, it would tarnish the Byrne family’s reputation. As the head of the Byrne family, his uncle would naturally be concerned about this.
Liam calmed down, realizing that confronting Marcus directly wouldn’t lead to anything good.
“Ella said she wants to break up, but she was just angry. In a couple of days, she’ll come to me and apologize, and everything will be fine.”
Marcus flicked a cigarette out of its pack and put it in his mouth, narrowing his eyes lightly, “Is that
so?”
Marcus’s “Is that so?” held a deep meaning.
Liam didn’t catch the hint and nodded. “It’s just a fight between a couple, no big deal. Uncle, you’re so busy, there’s no need to worry about this. When Ella apologizes, the Byrne family’s face will be
restored.”
Hearing this, Marcus suddenly fell silent.
This reminded him of something.
Yes, Ella did indeed propose the breakup tonight.
But what if she regrets it?
Seven years of feelings, can she really let go so easily?
Liam inhaled slowly from his cigarette, his body radiating a layer of hostility.
After finishing the cigarette, he finally spoke: “Tomorrow at 6 PM, you bring Natalie here.”
Liam froze, not understanding why Marcus suddenly wanted to meet with Natalie.
He was worried that his uncle would make things difficult for her and immediately said, “This is between Ella and me. It has nothing to do with Natalie.”
