Chapter 5: What a Laughingstock
“Three years ago, if I had really kidnapped her, I would’ve had a thousand ways to make Natalie disappear. Why would I leave clues for you to find her?”
“Slap!”
A heavy slap landed on Ella’s face. Damian appeared from the study, his face cold. “Ella, what nonsense are you talking about? Shut up!”
Her cheek burned, but Ella didn’t care.
“If I really wanted thugs to rape her, I wouldn’t have bothered bringing her to an abandoned factory. I never do unnecessary things.”
The onlookers were shocked, eyes widening in disbelief.
Natalie almost got raped by thugs?
This was the most explosive scandal in high society!
Gazes shifted to Natalie, and she bit her lip, face pale.
s
Damian was furious. This was a Rossi family taboo, something no one dared mention in three years. Yet, Ella brought it up in front of so many people.
It was a joke!
One daughter went to prison, the other nearly assaulted, all because the sisters were fighting!
They’d embarrassed themselves in front of everyone!
In less than an hour, the Rossi family would become the biggest laughingstock!
Natalie, on the other hand, was already in tears, head lowered, shoulders trembling, tears falling in
large drops.
Chapter 5: What a Laughingstock
“Ella, why bring this up?” Lydia asked angrily, clearly displeased. “Can’t you see your sister is
crying?”
Ella’s cold face held a hint of sarcasm. She lifted her pant leg, exposing the ugly scar on her ankle for
all to see. The room fell silent.
“But why is no one concerned if I’m hurt?”
Her fingers gently traced the wound.
“I’ve always wondered, who among you paid off the female prisoners, allowing them to do this to me? I have dozens of scars, would you like to see them?”
D
“Was it you?” Ella looked at Damian and Lydia, quickly turning to Natalie. “Or was it you?”
Finally, her gaze swept over Liam’s face and then coldly turned away.
“Ella, please…stop talking. If it means that much to you, I’ll give up the Rossi family heiress title,” Natalie’s trembling voice interrupted Ella as she held her head in her hands.
“It’s my fault, all my fault. I shouldn’t have shamelessly stayed in the Rossi family. I should have died in that wasteland three years ago.”
Natalie’s nose reddened, tears pooling in her eyes, “Liam, you shouldn’t have saved me. You should have just let me die.”
Ella looked at Natalie with cold eyes. “If someone truly wanted to die, they wouldn’t keep saying it.”
“Ella!”
Liam’s brows furrowed as he moved to protect Natalie, “I remember warning you before we came. Think before you speak. Do you know the consequences of causing such a scene today?”
A bitter smile crossed Ella’s lips.
Her brokenness, exposing the scars she most wanted to hide, was just seen as making a scene to
Liam.
“Yes, I’m making a scene. But you’re my fiancé. Shouldn’t you stand by my side unconditionally?
Chapter 5: What a Laughingstock
Liam, what does it mean for you to protect other women in front of me?”
At Ella’s reminder, everyone suddenly realized.
Wasn’t Liam Ella’s fiancé? Why had he been supporting Natalie all along?
In the three years Ella was gone, rumors had begun to swirl.
Wherever Liam appeared, Natalie would be there. But because it seemed so natural, no one ever
suspected.
However, with Ella’s subtle hint, everyone began to think–were Liam and Natalie having an affair?
The older sister seduced her younger sister’s fiancé?
What a scandalous high society secret!
The long–accumulated emotions suddenly erupted. Ella walked to the decanter, her long fingers picking it up. “So you think I drugged her, huh?”
She took a big gulp from the bottle, the strong taste filling her mouth. “Fine, I drugged myself. Are you satisfied now?”
The strong, bitter taste spread across her mouth as the liquid spilled over her lips and onto her
clothes.
She took two more gulps and forcefully tossed the decanter in front of Natalie.
The sound of porcelain shattering echoed through the hall, broken pieces scattered across the floor.
The bottle was shattered.
And Ella, too, had shattered.
Lydia was the first to react. Seeing Ella drink the wine, her face changed dramatically.
What if there was poison in it? What if she died here?
In a hurry, Lydia ordered someone to call an ambulance. Just then, a maid came out of the kitchen.

“I put something in Natalie’s drink. She said her complexion looked bad lately, so I added some vitamins.”
