Chapter 2
Quinlyn had heard that voice before. She frowned, knowing that there was a connection between her having a second chance and the narrator who was always around.
But that line threw her off. She wondered, ‘Modification… Did I modify something? If I changed things, would the past change, too?’
She lowered her head, thought for a second, and then headed back to the hospital. The money wasn’t gone, but she didn’t want to keep it. By the time she chilled out, the car was already at the hospital gate.
The Narrator said, [Quinlyn got to the hospital and found Yarden, all impatient, waiting for her. He’d lost money gambling and was trying to blame her by taking the cash.]
Quinlyn suddenly realized. No wonder in her previous life, when she took the money away, Yarden was the angriest.
Yarden was pacing around, restless. The moment Quinlyn showed up, he rushed over, grabbed her braid, and yanked her aside, not caring about the crowd. “You little brat, think you’re all tough now?”
Quinlyn narrowed her eyes, clenched her fist, and punched him in the stomach without hesitation. Tough break for him- all those years of frustration had made her a fighter.
Yarden was Quinlyn’s older brother. His name sounded fancy, but he was a total scumbag. He doubled over like a shrimp from the punch.
Quinlyn just felt great.
Yarden scolded her in pain, “You… you idiot…”
Quinlyn stood still, smiling softly. “Yarden, watch your mouth, or I’ll get mad.”
The sun was shining bright. When she smiled, her eyes crinkled, looking sweet and bright. Her star-like eyes sparkled with a weird glow. Sunlight from behind lit her up, making her delicate skin almost see-through.
Quinlyn undid her braid. Her hair, like seaweed, flowed in the wind. She gathered it loosely. She didn’t seem to change a lot, but she looked totally different now.
Yarden wanted to yell again, but seeing Quinlyn’s threatening fist, he swallowed his anger, rubbing his stomach. “Pay up… Don’t act tough. If you can’t pay later, just wait for Mom and Dad to punish you.”
Quinlyn walked toward the hospital without looking back. “None of your business.”
The Narrator spoke up right on time. [Quinlyn hit Yarden. Yarden glared at her, eyeing her attractive figure. Lust filled his eyes. He thought, ‘She’s not even my sister. I’ve raised her all these years, so why not take advantage?’]
Seeing Quinlyn about to leave, Yarden yelled, “Give me the money! Mom gets a headache just looking at you.”
Quinlyn laughed softly, “Is that so? Then I’m pretty happy about it.” She stopped. Her once bright eyes turned dark as a deep hole, black and endless.
Yarden was about to attack, but that look scared him. “What are you staring at?”
Quinlyn’s face stayed blank. “I could kill you right now,” she said coldly. “But you’re not worth dirtying my hands over.” She felt nothing but disgust.
Only when Quinlyn was far away did Yarden mutter a curse. He was too scared to do anything.
As Quinlyn approached the inpatient department building, she paused. She sensed something and looked up toward the

window above.
It was tightly shut, hiding everything inside. She was too far below to see much. But she knew. Someone was watching her from that window. She didn’t know who it was and the Narrator stayed quiet.
She looked away and walked into the building without rushing.
After she left, the window on that floor slowly opened. A sharp, stern face appeared. The man looked tough and scary, with an intimidating presence that kept others away. “Is that the Guzman girl?”
“Yes,” came Timothy’s reply. “They say she’s lazy. Compared to the Guzman heiress, it’s like night and day.”
“I think she’s fun-like a puppy flailing around.”
Timothy Burns scratched his head. He couldn’t see how Quinlyn was like a puppy.
When Quinlyn got to the hospital room door, she stopped, hearing someone sobbing inside.
Yarden shoved her in from behind, thinking she was scared. “Mom. I got this brat. She stole money and tried to bolt. What’ll she be like when she grows up? Mom, it’s all your fault for spoiling her. Just look at her ungrateful face!”
Yarden’s voice was loud and arrogant, like a thug’s, wanting everyone to hear.
Actually, in her previous life, when Quinlyn got beat up and showed up looking rough, Yarden said worse things, like, “You had it coming!”
At that time, the Guzman family came to see Quinlyn. She looked shy and messy, like a total country girl. They thought she was low-class right away. Having her represent the family would be so embarrassing.
But this time around, things were different. Quinlyn walked in, wearing faded, old clothes that looked gray. Her face was bright and clean. She kept her eyes down, showing she was simple.
With tears in their eyes, the Guzman couple said softly, “Sweetie, you’ve been through so much.”
As soon as they spoke, Yalena on the bed started crying softly. Evelyn Guzman’s heart ached. She forgot all about Quinlyn and rushed over.
Evelyn coaxed Yalena, “Oh, sweetie, don’t cry. You’ll always be our daughter. Quinlyn just got here five minutes before Isn’t it great to have a sister who loves you? Just like your brothers adore you.”
you.
Yalena looked up, tears in her eyes, and whispered, “Really?” Her voice was soft and husky from crying, making her seem shy.
The Guzman family treated Yalena like a treasure. Her amber eyes shone clear and deep, pure as water. With her innocent look, delicate skin, and a custom yellow princess dress, she looked like a fresh flower.
Quinlyn couldn’t calm down after seeing Yalena again. Worse, an ID card popped into Quinlyn’s head.
[Female Lead: Yalena
Identity: Fake Heiress]
‘Female Lead?!’ Quinlyn was confused, thinking, ‘What does this mean? She’s the female lead. What about me?’ Just then, the Narrator spoke up.
