Chapter 159: The She-Wolf I’ve Had a Crush on
Chapter 159: The She–Wolf I’ve Had a Crush on
(Aria’s POV)
“That’s a bit strange…” Dr. Marcus Thompson’s voice carried through the mobile phone, tinged with
professional concern. “By rights, it shouldn’t be like this…”
His words made my stomach clench with anxiety. After everything we’d discussed about James’s condition,
the werewolf psychiatrist seemed genuinely puzzled by my brother’s reactions.
“What do you mean, Doctor?” I pressed, gripping the phone tighter.
“Well, typically when a patient shows such extreme reactions to specific triggers, there’s usually a pattern.
But your brother’s responses are… inconsistent. He reacts violently to Alexander Reed’s name, yet shows no
recognition of David Turner, who you suspected was his attacker.”
I felt my wolf whimper anxiously within me. Nothing about James’s condition made sense anymore.
“Could there be something else we’re missing?” I asked, though I wasn’t sure I wanted to hear the answer.
“It’s possible,” Dr. Thompson admitted. “Sometimes psychological trauma can create false associations. But
I’ll continue monitoring him.”
After ending the call, I stared at the phone in my hands, feeling more lost than ever. The pieces of this puzzle
weren’t fitting together the way they should.
“You look troubled,” Dominic observed, his powerful Alpha presence immediately focusing on me with
concern.
I looked up at him, my mate who had been patiently waiting while I spoke with the doctor. His silver–gray eyes
held such genuine care that it made my heart ache.
“I’m starting to think Alexander might be behind everything,” I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper.
“What makes you say that?” Dominic’s expression grew serious, his Alpha instincts sharpening.
“Think about it. James accepted Alexander’s re–marking proposal so easily, even though they never got along. And now he reacts violently to Alexander’s name but not to David Turner’s?”
I shook my head in frustration. “It doesn’t make sense unless Alexander has some kind of leverage over him.”
Dominic’s jaw tightened, his wolf’s protective instincts clearly activated. “You might be right. Your brother never struck me as someone who would back down from a fight, especially not to help Alexander.”
The thought made my wolf whimper with distress. If Alexander was somehow responsible for James’s
condition, then everything became even more complicated.
Dominic noticed my distress immediately. He reached out and gently took my hand, his powerful Alpha presence wrapping around me protectively.
“Hey,” he said softly, his silver–gray eyes fixed on me with unwavering concern. “Whatever’s happening, we’ll figure it out together.”
I felt warmth spread through me at his words, touched by his caring attention. Even in the midst of this

chaos, he remained my anchor.
“I know,” I said, shaking my head with a small smile. “But even if I were to ask Alexander directly, he would never reveal anything. He’s too cunning for that.”
Dominic visibly relaxed at my words, and I felt a mix of amusement and emotion wash over me. Even this powerful Alpha King felt insecure sometimes, worried about my potential interactions with my former mate.
“You’re right,” he admitted, his wolf’s protective instincts evident in his shifted scent. “But that doesn’t mean we can’t find other ways to get answers.”
I looked at him with growing affection, realizing how much he truly cared for me. He worried about everything that might affect me, even the smallest things.
Gathering my courage, I called his name softly. “Dominic?”
“Yes?” He looked up at me expectantly, his full attention focused on whatever I was about to say.
“Actually, what I first liked was the boy who protected me with his school uniform during gym class,” ! confessed, my voice barely above a whisper. “And he was the one who gave me my first stirring of emotion…”
Dominic went completely still, a blank expression spreading across his face. His Alpha composure was momentarily shattered, as if my words had short–circuited his brain.
My ears reddened with embarrassment, feeling vulnerable after such an admission. My wolf stirred restlessly beneath my skin, uncertain about his reaction.
The silence stretched between us for what felt like an eternity. Then, suddenly, Dominic burst into laughter.
His joy echoed through the room, pure and uninhibited, “I understand!” he exclaimed, pulling me into a tight
embrace before I could react.
His powerful Alpha scent surrounded me completely, overwhelming my senses in the best possible way. “My
Aria likes me, and she liked me from the very beginning.”
Before I could respond, he lifted me off my feet and spun me around, his excitement infectious. The sudden
movement startled me, making me gasp.
“Dominic!” I protested, though I couldn’t help but laugh at his enthusiasm.
When my feet finally touched the ground, I gently punched his arm, feigning annoyance. But my eyes were
filled with warmth as I looked at him.
“You scared me to death,” I said, trying to sound stern but failing miserably.
He leaned his forehead against mine, his eyes sparkling with happiness. “Do you know how happy I am right
now? The she–wolf I’ve had a crush on for more than ten years also likes me…”
His voice was filled with wonder, as if he couldn’t quite believe his dreams were coming true. “This isn’t a
dream, is it? Is there anything else that could make me happier?”
I softly reached up to touch his face, my heart swelling with emotion. “You’re not dreaming,” I whispered.
He clasped my hand and brought it to his lips, kissing my fingertips with reverent tenderness. The sensation sent a shiver through me, as if an electric current was running through my veins.
“Yes,” he sighed contentedly, “I wouldn’t even dare to imagine such a thing in my dreams.”
Chapter 159. The She–Wol…
Overwhelmed by the raw emotion in his voice, I felt my eyes well up with tears. I understood the weight of loneliness that he, despite his privileged Alpha background, had carried all these years.
“You can think that way from now on,” I assured him quietly, my voice thick with emotion.
Dominic didn’t say anything in response. Instead, he simply pulled me into a comforting embrace, holding me as if I might disappear if he let go.
The office fell into a serene silence, broken only by the sound of our synchronized breathing. In that moment, nothing else mattered except the two of us.
“Knock, knock, knock!” A sharp knock on the door shattered our peaceful moment.
I quickly tried to pull away from Dominic, embarrassed at being caught in such an intimate position. But he held me firmly in place, his Alpha authority evident in his grip.
“What are you afraid of?” he asked, his voice amused. “We’re mated, we’re legally bonded.”
Then, louder, he called toward the door, “Come in.”
Unable to escape his embrace, I buried my face in his chest, pretending to be invisible. Maybe if I couldn’t see whoever was entering, they couldn’t see me either.
Hunter Hayes, Dominic’s assistant, entered the office with his usual professional composure. If he was surprised by our position, he didn’t show it.
“Alpha Dominic,” he began formally, “I have an update on the investigation.”
“Go ahead,” Dominic replied, his arms still firmly around me.
“The person who bought the trending searches on the territorial social networks couldn’t be traced,” Hunter reported. “The final account location was overseas, and all the digital footprints were expertly covered.”
Dominic scoffed, his voice taking on a dangerous edge. “This fox has its tail hidden quite deep!”
“Should I continue investigating?” Hunter asked, his tone carefully neutral.
“No need,” Dominic decided after a moment. “You can go now.”
“Yes, Alpha Dominic.” Hunter bowed slightly and left the office, closing the door behind him with a soft click.
Once we were alone again, I finally peeked out from Dominic’s embrace, feeling like a shy pup. I breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that the awkward moment was over.
Dominic looked down at me with obvious amusement. “My Luna,” he teased, “why are you being so sneaky when we’re legally mated?”
I rolled my eyes at his playful taunt, but couldn’t suppress a small smile. “Because it’s embarrassing!”
“There’s nothing embarrassing about showing affection to your mate,” he countered his eyes twinkling with
mischief.
I decided to change the subject before he could tease me further. “I want to go see David Turner.”
Dominic’s smile faded slightly at my words. After a moment of thought, he nodded. “Okay, I’ll go with you.”
“You don’t have to-”
“I’m going with you,” he interrupted firmly, his Alpha authority leaving no room for argument.

I was surprised when David Turner readily agreed to meet us. I had expected more difficulty, given the complicated history between our families.

Upon arriving at the designated meeting place, a quiet cafe in neutral territory, we found David already there.
He was seated in his wheelchair with a dark gray blanket over his knees, a concession to the cooling
weather.
Despite his physical limitations, he still carried himself with the dignity of a former Alpha. His eyes were
sharp and alert, missing nothing as we approached.
“Alpha Turner, hello,” I greeted him respectfully.
David nodded in acknowledgment, then looked between Dominic and me. “Alpha Dominic, Luna Aria, may I
ask why you wanted to meet me?”
His tone was polite but cautious. He seemed well–informed about our recent mate bond, despite the fact that Dominic’s announcement had been only a simple territorial social media post with a picture of our mate bond
certificate.
Before I could formulate my response, Dominic spoke up with his characteristic directness. “Alpha Turner, don’t you know why we’re looking for you?”
David chuckled, though there was no humor in the sound. His gaze fell on me, studying my face with
uncomfortable intensity.
“Is it about your elder brother?” he asked quietly.
