Chapter 8
Since there was no concrete evidence to prove that the child in Allison’s womb wasn’t Myles‘, we could only wait until the day she gave birth.
When Myles and I arrived at the hospital, the area was already packed with villagers who had come to watch the spectacle.
Throughout her pregnancy, Allison had been spreading the word daily that she was carrying Myles‘ child, but I had stolen her boyfriend away.
The moment Myles and I stepped through the hospital doors, we immediately became the target of everyone’s pointing and whispering.
Seeing the culprit who had damaged his reputation and gotten him scolded by his superiors, Myles‘ expression instantly darkened.
However, when Allison saw him, she flashed a sickeningly sweet smile.
With her protruding belly, she grabbed Myles‘ hand and tried to place it on her stomach.
She said excitedly, “Myles, you finally came! I knew you cared about me.
“Come feel our baby! Our little one looks just like you – kicks me in the belly every day!”
Myles disgustedly shook off her hand. “Show some respect. I’m not here today to play along with your act. I’m here to see how you’re going to end this lie.”
Seeing Myles so resistant to any physical contact with her, Allison bit her lower lip hard, her eyes shooting daggers at me. “I know it’s all because this b*tch seduced you. It’s okay, Myles. Once the baby is born, we’ll be one happy family.”
A love triangle with two women fighting over one man always stirred up the most gossip.
Just as everyone was whispering among themselves, Allison suddenly clutched her belly and shouted, “I’m going into labor!”
The nurses who had been standing by immediately rushed forward to help her onto a stretcher.
Before being wheeled into the delivery room, she still clung tightly to Myles‘ shirt. “Myles, wait for me! I’ll definitely give
you a son.”
I, who had remained silent all this time, let out a cold snort. “Let’s see you actually deliver that child of unknown origins first.”
She looked smug. “Don’t worry. Once I give birth to this baby, you can get lost, you homewrecking b*tch.”
I watched coldly as she was wheeled into the delivery room.
She was still running her mouth even at death’s door. I was curious to see exactly what she would deliver.
Soon, Allison’s agonized screams echoed from the delivery
room.
Myles, sitting beside me, seemed somewhat agitated, but seeing me still calmly seated in the waiting area, his anxiety subsided slightly.
Several hours passed with continuous screaming from the delivery room. Suddenly, a shriek that didn’t belong to Allison pierced the air.
The tightly closed delivery room doors burst open, and several nurses rushed out in panic.
The nurse who had helped Allison onto the stretcher earlier now sat collapsed on the floor, her face filled with terror, hands trembling uncontrollably as she kept muttering, “What was… what was that?”
