Chapter 7

Sirius was allergic to mangos-in just three minutes, gruesome hives were emerging on his hand.

But he didn’t seem to notice as he kept chomping on the mangos, until he started convulsing and foaming at the mouth and

collapsed.

As he was being carried into an ambulance, he turned toward me and gasped, “I suffered like you did… Can you give me a second

chance?”

All he saw was me determined to leave without a word, holding Ebony’s hand.

Nonetheless, he showed up just three days later after the doctor spent twenty-four hours trying to save his life.

He was a lot more subdued and would instead ‘bump into’ me at places he knew I frequented.

Ebony was utterly irritated and would always stick close to me, his serpentine pupils clearly conveying a threat.

Then one day, I attended a corporate event with Ebony.

I was briefly separated from him while he was busy with some partners and was having cake when a shadow loomed over me.

I looked up to see that Sirius was suddenly in front of me, and I turned to leave, wondering how I didn’t notice how disgusting he really was.

Stung by my glare, he promptly stopped me. “Wait! I just came to tell you that I just saw Ebony entering a room upstairs with another female beastfolk!”

I paused and turned toward where Ebony was, but he was really gone.

Sirius quickly moved closer to me, demanding in righteous indignation, “See? He’d do something like that right under your nose, and you’d still stay with him?”

I frowned. “That’s between us. It’s none of your business.”

Although I was rational enough to see that Ebony wasn’t like that, I still couldn’t help feeling restless.

Sirius could tell that much and quickly stoke the flames, leading me along and saying, “Room 3015. You’ll see if I was lying.”

I couldn’t help following him-it was just a matter of minutes.

But somehow, the journey felt so long.

What if Ebony was really cheating on me? What should I do?

Even as I felt confused, we were outside Room 3015 before I knew it.

Still, before a thrilled Sirius could open the door, the door opened as a scantily dressed woman came running out.

“Who sent you?!” Ebony was bellowing after her from inside, his fury palpable but his clothes neat and tidy. “I’ve had a crush on my wife for years-don’t even think about it!”

Seeing me, his fury faded as he promptly explained, “Please, dear-I never lay a finger on her. I noticed that my drink was drugged, so I pretended to drink it and pass out. Just as I thought, I was brought to a quiet place like this, with a woman no less. You can check if you don’t believe me.-”

I stopped him before he could take his shirt off and couldn’t help laughing. “It’s fine. I trust you.”

Then, wheeling on Sirius, I smirked at him even as all color drained from his face. “Let me guess… that woman was a friend of yours? You really disgust me.”

He looked very much wounded. “No! How could you think that of me?!”

But I wasn’t bothered to listen-it didn’t matter either way, just as it had ruined the event for us.

Ebony said goodbye to the host and started to leave with me, but Sirius kept chasing us even to the entrance.

That was when a filthy female beast folk came running into Sirius’s arms, yelling, “Please, Sirius! I’m pregnant… Please don’t

leave me!”

It took me a moment to see that it was Lola, whom I hadn’t seen for some time.
