Chapter 27
Third-Person POV
The moment she vanished through the gate, a tall figure stepped out from behind a stone
pillar.
Alpha Simon.
He stood there silently, staring at the path Judy had taken, his chest aching like his heart had
been clawed open from the inside.
She was gone—and this time, she hadn’t even
looked back.
He still loved her. That truth ran deeper than
blood. But she hated him now. She didn’t want
to see him, didn’t even want to hear his name.
Still, Alpha Simon refused to give up. In his
mind, he convinced himself she’d come back someday,
So he waited.

In the weeks that followed, Simon changed. The arrogance faded, replaced by a haunted quiet. He stopped drinking, started training again, and even returned to pack council meetings.
But the ache never left.
More than a month passed before Judy returned from her honeymoon. The moment Simon caught wind of her arrival, he sped to the airport-but she wasn’t there.
She had gone straight to the hospital.
Simon rushed there, his wolf senses on high alert. He arrived just in time to see Alpha Grayson and Judy stepping out of the doctor’s
office.
Grayson had his arm around her protectively,
helping her walk with tender care.
“The doctor said no more late-night ice cream raids, alright?” Grayson teased.
“Alright, alright. It was only a few extra scoops.” Judy grinned and nudged him playfully, her hand resting gently over her lower belly.

Simon’s heart dropped.
Her belly?
“Tell me,” she said, her eyes sparkling, “do your think our pup will look more like you or me?”
Pup.
Alpha Simon’s mind went blank.
She was pregnant.
It hadn’t even been two months-and she was
already carrying Alpha Grayson’s child.
Simon staggered backward a step, as if the
wind had been knocked out of him. His ears
were ringing, claws threatening to extend, breath hitching in his throat.
She’d once told him she was afraid of giving birth… that she wasn’t ready for a pup anytime
soon.
So how had this happened?

“If it’s a boy, he’ll be as handsome as me,”
Grayson replied, grinning. “If it’s a girl, she’ll be as beautiful as her mama.”
“You’re ridiculous!” Judy laughed and swatted his shoulder affectionately.
“Do you remember the first time we met?” Grayson took her hand and kissed it.
Lost in their bubble of happiness, neither of them noticed the heartbroken Alpha standing just feet away.
Simon clenched his jaw. He wanted to shout, to shift, to tear something apart. But what could he do?
She was in love-with someone else. She had truly moved on.
And now, she was building a family… the one they’d once dreamed of having together.
His mind flashed back to her voice-soft, sweet, full of hope. “Simon, when we have a pup, you better light up the whole sky with fireworks for them, okay?”

That day would never come.
He had broken her heart, and she had found someone else to cherish her. But maybe, just maybe, there was one promise he could still
keep.
That night, downtown lights dimmed as the sky erupted with color.
Alpha Simon had arranged a private fireworks show that lasted three full hours-one
explosion after another lighting the heavens in
brilliant shades of red, gold, and violet.
He stood on a rooftop, silently watching.
Not far away, Judy and Grayson were dining at a rooftop restaurant, candles flickering, soft music playing. Through the large windows, the fireworks painted the room in kaleidoscopic
hues.
People paused their meals to snap photos, oohing and aahing at the unexpected display.
“Is today supposed to be some holiday?”
5/7
someone asked. “Why the sudden fireworks?”
“I don’t care what the day means,” another woman giggled. “They’re beautiful.”
“If you like them, I’ll give you a show even better than this one on your birthday,” her date promised.
“When I have kids, I want fireworks like this raining from the sky,” someone else said.
“Deal. I swear I’ll make it happen,” came the warm reply.
Judy froze mid-bite.
She slowly lifted her head, eyes drawn to the sky outside.
The bursts of light reflected in her eyes, and though her lips curved into a smile, a tear slipped down her cheek.
“What’s wrong?” Grayson asked gently, sliding a piece of steak onto her plate. “Don’t like the
view?”
6/7
She shook her head, voice soft. “No. I love it.”
She took a bite and smiled again, her expression calm-but her heart aching just a
little.
Simon… it’s you, isn’t it?
You remembered.
But it didn’t matter anymore.
It was too late.
