Chapter 16
Third-Person POV
Behind them, Wilona stumbled along the street, her wedding dress dragging through the dust. Her hair was a mess, her makeup ruined, and her heels wobbled with each frantic step.
“Simon, wait for me! I… I can’t run anymore!”
Grayson glanced sideways at Judy, his hands still steady on the wheel.
“Do you want me to-?”
“No.”
Judy cut him off without even looking back.
“Just drive.”
Grayson didn’t ask again. He pressed the accelerator, and the sleek black SUV surged forward.
In the rearview mirror, Alpha Simon stood frozen on the curb, unable to catch up.

Wilona finally reached him, panting and red-faced. She clutched his sleeve desperately.
“Simon, Judy’s gone-she’s already married! There’s no point chasing her anymore, okay? Come back with me. The guests are still waiting. We’re supposed to get married too,
remember?”
Simon didn’t move. His eyes were vacant.
“Married?” he echoed hollowly, his voice thick with bitterness. “What wedding? Judy left me…
She went off with another man.”
“Yes, she left! But I’m still here.” Wilona
clutched at his arm with trembling fingers. “Didn’t you promise me? You said you’d marry me today, before it’s too late.”
Simon scoffed and shook her off. “I’m not
marrying you.”
He stumbled forward in a daze, slow and
aimless.
“Simon, please-don’t do this.” Wilona chased

after him, panic in her eyes. “I know Judy doesn’t want you, but I do! Don’t forget… I’m
dying, remember? You said you’d marry me before I go.”
Simon didn’t respond.
“I don’t love you,” he muttered.
Then louder: “I love Judy. I’ve only ever loved
her. And if I can’t have her…”
He blinked, his body swaying.
“…then what’s the point of living?”
And with that, he collapsed-his tall figure crumpling to the ground in one final,
unconscious fall.
“Simon!” Wilona shrieked, rushing to his side.
In the SUV, Judy turned away from the window and shut her eyes, exhaustion sinking deep. into her bones. Her wedding day had started. with betrayal and ended in heartbreak-for
someone else. She just wanted peace now.

Grayson reached into the backseat and pulled out a blanket. Without a word, he handed it to
her.
“Cover up. I don’t want my Luna catching a
cold.”
Judy accepted it, a faint smile tugging at her lips. “Thanks. Where are we headed now?”
“To the Silver Claw Pack estate. Your new
home.”
About two hours later, the vehicle rolled through towering gates and up a winding drive, pulling to a stop in front of a grand mansion nestled deep within their territory.
Grayson stepped out first, then opened the door for her, offering a hand.
“Come on, wife. Let me show you where you’ll be living from now on.”
He called her “wife” so casually, so naturally, that it almost startled her.
Judy stepped out and took in the mansion with

wide eyes. It was even more luxurious than Alpha Simon’s family home-taller, broader, more commanding.
She glanced sideways at Grayson, suspicion creeping in.
Her family wasn’t poor, but this level of wealth… it was something else.
How had her father arranged such a betrothal?
Grayson noticed her expression and smirked.
“What, surprised? Relax-it’s not mine. My old
man owns the place. He’s the rich one.”
He winked. “I just happen to be good-looking and capable. I can still afford to feed you-and our pups, one day.”
He led her inside.
The estate was massive. After taking the elevator up to the second floor, Grayson guided her into a spacious room.
Black and white filled the space-clean lines,

cold colors, minimalist to the extreme. From the curtains to the bedsheets, everything was sharp and sterile.
Judy froze in the doorway.
She had zero desire to go in.
Grayson noticed and raised a brow. “What? Not a fan?”
“This place looks like a vampire’s crypt.”
He crossed his arms. “This is what a man’s
room is supposed to look like.”
“I don’t like it.”
She squared her shoulders, suddenly animated. “Are you free right now?”
“…Why?”
Grayson instinctively took a step back, sensing trouble.
“Come with me,” Judy said.

Soon enough, Grayson found himself standing in the middle of a brightly lit mall, arms full of pastel bedding, cutesy throw pillows, and decorative string lights.
“Seriously?” he asked, watching her toss a pink cat-shaped lamp into the pile.
“We’ve been married for half a day, and you’re already invading my bedroom?”
“Not satisfied?” Judy turned, arching a brow. “You want a divorce? I’m available anytime, Alpha Grayson.”
Grayson was momentarily stunned.
This woman had fangs.
“You’ve got some bite,” he muttered, impressed despite himself. “Where was all this fire when
you were dealing with Alpha Simon?”
The moment Simon’s name slipped out, Judy’s mood dropped. Her gaze lowered, her voice quieted.
“…Forget it. If you don’t like it, we won’t buy it.”

She turned to leave, but Grayson reached out and caught her hand.
“Buy, buy, buy,” he said quickly, pulling her back toward the counter. “Clerk-wrap up everything my wife picked out. Charge it.”
Judy blinked, stunned by his generosity. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll bankrupt you?”
“Not at all.” He leaned in. “Buy whatever you want. I’m not short on money, and you’re worth every penny.”
Judy burst into laughter, her earlier gloom. dissolving.
And just like that, she bought it all-every last girly decoration, every personal toiletry.
