As Jonathan spoke, his expression turned grave. He said, “From now on, whenever you see Sanford, stay away from him. He has been approaching you from the very beginning just to get back at me.”
Teresa didn’t reply. She knew exactly how she felt about Sanford, not a trace of romantic attraction. Still, she was grateful Sanford had made the long trip for Michael’s sake.
Jonathan was visibly irritated by Teresa’s silence. He demanded, “Why didn’t you respond? Don’t tell me you still want to see him.”
Teresa replied, “Who I choose to see is my own business. There are just some things I can’t promise you with absolute certainty.”
“But you are so certain to keep your distance from me, aren’t you?” Jonathan scoffed. “When it comes to avoiding me, no one does it better than you. You’re just doing this to torture me.”
Teresa said, “First, I told you I don’t want to get married again. I just don’t have the confidence to go through marriage again. Our marriage already wore me out. If you want to remarry, I wish you well.
“Besides, I had no idea you were the one who gave Miriam those concert tickets, and she never told me.
“When I met Sanford, nothing else happened between us. I offered to pay you back for the tickets, but you refused. Then you brought me to your place, dragged me to your car, and then to your bed without my consent.
“I begged you to let me go, but you ignored my pleas. So what else do you want me to say? Whatever I say, you always have the last word anyway.”
With that, Teresa fell silent.
“Do you think you’re the victim here?” Jonathan stared at Teresa.
Teresa remained silent. Finally, she muttered, “I’m so tired. Let me sleep for a bit. Don’t disturb me. I’ll leave as soon as I wake up.”
At Nareigh General Hospital, Jennifer answered the call from Cheryl.
Cheryl said, “Here’s the thing. I was already ho in the face. I’m really sorry.”

Cheryl said, “Or who else? Have you ever treated my parents like your own? You won’t even call them ‘Mom‘ and ‘Dad. You’re even more heartless to me.
“That’s why I don’t see you as my sister–in–law. The only reason I’m even putting up with you is for Donald’s sake.”
Jennifer sneered and said, “Do you think I want to meddle in your family affairs? only look out for people I care about. If your mother hadn’t come to me for that checkup, I wouldn’t have bothered to point out the truth.”
She continued, “Your mother has contracted a high–risk mucosal virus. You’re not a child anymore. You should know how cervical infections happen.
