Chapter 13
He looked embarrassed. “Yeah, I have no idea where anything is, I’ve been wandering around for the past thirty minutes,” he admitted.
I laughed and a few students turned and looked at us in shock. “Alright, follow me,”
“I’m a bitch, I’m a boss, I’m a bitch, I’m a boss and I-” I sang, but Lion punched the volume, clicking it off while cracking the thick plastic. I sent him a glare. “You could have told me you didn’t like that song,”
He scoffed and looked out the window as he drove. I copied him and watched the moving trees, bad mood forming. I tapped my fingers on my thighs, wishing the ride would go faster.
“Anything… you want to tell me?” I paused and turned looking at Lion.
“Uhhhh, nooo?” I dragged out the words, confused.
Lion looked at me, and I looked at him. “You took down a guy with a gun!” He said and seemed like he was in a rare good mood. “I taught you how to fight, and remember a certain someone saying they would never use the moves I showed you.”
I raised my hands. “Yeah well, nothing I do works when I get into fights with you guys-”
Lion snorted. “Of course not,” his voice was condescending. “We’re vampires, you wouldn’t be able to take down any supernatural.”
I crossed my arms. “You never know! I- I have tricks and stuff,”
Lion pulled into the driveway and glanced at me. “You can’t even do homework,”
I gasped. “How dare you!”
Lion laughed at me and parked. “Well, I’m not wrong, am I?”
I grumbled under my breath and unbuckled, getting out his his stupid shiny car. I walked into the house, Lion moving behind me.
I kicked off my boots and sighed as River crossed his arms, seeming to have been waiting for me to come home.
“What? Did you wait there eight hours?” I asked dryly.
River narrowed his eyes. “The attitude is not necessarily,”
I rolled my eyes and moved to walk past him. “You’re not my dad, nothing happened, you don’t need to throw a fit over everything,”
River’s hand landed on my shoulder sharply, making me freeze. “I’ve had enough of you,”
I rolled my eyes and tried to shove his hand off. “You and everyone else- let go,”
“I think we need to have a talk,” River told me sternly
“I don’t need a lecture ”
River’s hand tightened and I went stiff. “Raven, enough.”
I looked down and felt my face twist up in annoyance Great, perfect.
“Raven, I know we don’t get along most of the
time.”
“No need to make it sound pretty, we don’t get along at all” I interrupted River, annoyed that I was forced to sit in his office and hear him tell me how to behave
River sighed and rubbed his eyes wearily. “Raven, if it weren’t for your nasty comments, like the one you just made, things would be so mach smoother around here.”

I crossed my arms but didn’t say anything to his words. River leaned on the back of his desk and looked at me.
“Raven, why are you angry with me?” I went stiff at his sudden question.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, I’m just sitting here.” I told him sharply.
River looked at me, clearly seeing through my quick words. “Raven, why are you angry with me.” I stood and turned.
“I don’t have to listen to this ” River grabbed my arm before I could even make it to the door. Stupid vampires abilities, I thought and grit my teeth.
“Actually, you do, have to listen, so sit your damn ass down, now.” River told me coldly. I shrugged myself away from him and sat back down stiffly, crossing my arms.
Tm not angry with you.” I said, looking to the side, just wanting this to be over.
“Raven, what did I do wrong?” River asked, and I frowned, still looking at the wall.
“What the hell are you talking about?” I asked, glaring at nothing in particular.
“Well I must have done something for you to always disrespect everything and everyone.”
I grit my teeth. “If you’re going to say you raised me wrong, I’m going to scream.” I turned and glared at him. “Let’s get this straight, River, I may live here, but neither you, nor anyone else, are family to me.”
River clenched his jaw. “Raven,” he growled my name when I stood and flipped him off.
“You’re not my dad, my brother, hell, you’re just some vampire who picked me off the street!” I snapped. “Don’t act like you have some hold over how I act! I’m sick of you acting superior, you’re not! And I don’t know why Missy made me come here with you!” I was crying now, tears rolling down my
face.
The door to the office opened and I turned, Cross stood there, arms crossed, dark eyes narrowed dangerously at me. “I didn’t realize you felt that way princess,” he said and raised an eyebrow.
“Oh shut up.” I hissed and wiped my face. “You’re such an ass, stop fucking mocking me!”
