Chapter 143: His Choice
Chapter 143: His Choice
(Aria’s POV)
I looked nervously at Alpha King William Blackwood, seeing his eyes wide with uncontrolled anger. My wolf whimpered anxiously within me, sensing the dangerous intensity of his Alpha pheromones filling the room like a suffocating storm.
Fear gripped my heart as I realized he might attack Dominic again. Without thinking, I quickly moved to shield Dominic behind me, my pregnant wolf’s protective instincts overriding all rational thought.
I knew this was like a rabbit trying to protect a wolf from a hunter, but I couldn’t care about that anymore. The thought of watching him endure more violence was unbearable.
Alpha William continued to glare at Dominic with burning eyes, his massive frame radiating barely contained fury. His Alpha pheromones were so intense that even the enforcer wolves standing in formation seemed to
shrink back.
But he made no further moves toward violence. The atmosphere remained thick with tension, like the
moment before lightning strikes.
Isabella Blackwood’s clear voice suddenly cut through the oppressive silence like a blade through silk.
“William, who my son chooses as his mate is his business,” she declared, her former Luna authority evident in every word. “Neither you nor I have the right to interfere!”
Her voice carried the weight of years of suppressed frustration and accumulated grievances.
William’s face darkened further at his mate’s challenge. He gritted his teeth, his jaw working as he struggled
to maintain control.
“That’s my heir!” he snarled, his voice thick with possessive rage. “If he didn’t bear the Blackwood bloodline, I wouldn’t care who he marks!”
The admission hung in the air like a confession of his true priorities – bloodline and power above all else, even his son’s happiness.
At this moment, Dominic, who had been silent throughout the exchange, suddenly spoke up. His voice was quiet but carried absolute finality.
“Yes.”
The simple word dropped into the silence like a stone into still water, creating ripples of shock throughout
the room.
William was momentarily stunned/his face cycling through disbelief, rage, and something that might have been fear. His voice came out as a harsh whisper.
“Do you know what you’re saying?”
Dominic looked up at his father with firm yet sharp eyes. His powerful Alpha presence began to rise, matching his father’s intensity with equal force.

“I can give up the Blackwood Alpha position,” he said clearly, each word deliberate and final.
The enforcer wolves exchanged shocked glances. Even Isabella’s composed mask slipped for a moment. “But if my future mate isn’t her…” Dominic turned to look at me with a slight smile, his silver–gray eyes softening with unmistakable love. “What’s the point of being Alpha King?”
My heart stopped beating for a moment. The magnitude of what he was offering – sacrificing everything for me – was overwhelming.
William’s face went through a series of emotions before settling on cold fury. He laughed harshly, the sound echoing off the office walls.
“Good!” he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “Good! GOOD!”
Each repetition grew louder and more venomous.
“Do you think everything you have now is because of what?” William continued, his voice rising to a roar. “Territory, influence, pack loyalty! All of this is because you were born into the Shadow Pack bloodline!”
His words struck like physical blows, designed to wound and humiliate.
“Without these, what are you, Dominic Blackwood?!” he demanded, his Alpha King command filling the room
with suffocating pressure.
Dominic’s response was ice–cold and unwavering.
“Then let’s see.”
His wolf’s challenging scent rose to meet his father’s, creating a clash of Alpha energies that made the very air crackle with tension.
William pointed at Dominic with a trembling finger, his rage reaching dangerous levels. His Alpha King command pressed down on everyone present like a physical weight.
The enforcer wolves standing in two rows were all terrified and didn’t dare breathe heavily. Their wolves submissively lowered their heads, with no one daring to add fuel to the fire at such a volatile moment. “Fine, I want to see how long you can keep this tough act!” William snarled, his voice promising retribution. With that final threat, he stormed out in fury, his heavy footsteps echoing through the corridor. The two teams of guards followed in perfect formation, their departure as sudden as their arrival.
The office fell so quiet you could hear a pin drop, though the lingering scent of angry Alpha pheromones remained heavy in the air like smoke after a fire.
I immediately turned my attention to Dominic, my heart breaking at the sight of his injuries. Blood had seeped through his torn shirt, staining the expensive fabric dark red.
“You… your wounds are still bleeding, let’s go to the hospital…” I said, supporting his arm carefully.
My eyes moistened and my heart ached terribly. My wolf whimpered anxiously within me at the sight of his injuries, but I didn’t know what words could possibly comfort him.
“It’s nothing, I’m tough, don’t worry,” Dominic forced a smile and gently squeezed my hand.
His Alpha strength was still évident despite his pain, but I could see the exhaustion in his eyes.
My tears instantly became uncontrollable and fell like raindrops. The sight of his blood, the memory of his

father’s cruelty, the magnitude of his sacrifice- it all crashed over me at once.
“Alright, stop being stubborn, let’s go to the hospital for treatment,” Isabella suddenly said with a slight frown.
Her voice carried maternal concern despite her usual cold demeanor.
I nodded eagerly and looked at Dominic intently. “I’ll go with you.”
Dominic reluctantly compromised, reaching out to wipe the tears from my face. His touch was gentle despite his injured state.
“Stop crying, if you keep crying, my wounds will hurt more,” he said softly.
I hurriedly wiped my tears messily with the back of my hand. “I’m not crying…”
“Right, you’re not crying, just got moonlight dust in your eyes, right?” he teased gently.
I didn’t expect him to still have the mood to banter with me at such a time. His Alpha humor remained intact despite everything he had endured.
“Stop talking, I’ll take you to the hospital,” I said firmly.
This time Dominic didn’t refuse and struggled to walk out with me, leaning slightly on my support.
Before we had taken many steps, we heard Isabella’s indifferent voice behind us.
“I won’t accompany you there, I have to attend a pack gathering later, take care of yourself.”
Dominic’s steps paused slightly, but he said nothing. He just tightened his grip on my hand before continuing to walk outside.
His powerful Alpha scent shifted with a hint of sadness that only my sensitive wolf nose could detect.
I instinctively turned back to look, seeing Isabella standing motionless with cold, indifferent eyes. She watched us leave as if naturally unmoved by anything, including her son’s pain.
I couldn’t help but look away, feeling a slight stabbing pain in my heart. I quickly hugged Dominic’s arm tighter, trying to offer what comfort I could.
I didn’t know what kind of environment Dominic had grown up in, but today I had seen his stern, sharp father and his cold, distant mother.
Even with the love from Elder Blackwood and other pack elders, he was still essentially a young wolf unloved by his parents.
While other wolf pups were being scented and nurtured in their parents‘ protective embrace, he might have rarely even seen his biological parents,
Such parents… were worse than having none at all, especially in pack society where family bonds were everything.
Soon I helped Dominic into his luxury SUV with the Shadow Pack emblem. The interior was spacious and comfortable, but I was afraid of touching his wounds.
I barely dared to touch him and could only instruct Hunter Hayes to drive smoothly to reduce bumps and make his Alpha more comfortable.
“Drive carefully,” I said anxiously. “Avoid any sudden stops or turns.”

Hunter nodded seriously, understanding the gravity of the situation.
Since Hunter had called Dr. Nathan Lewis at Silvercrest Hospital in advance, we saw Dr. Lewis in his white coat waiting at the entrance when we arrived.
His professional scent was tinged with concern as he spotted our vehicle.
As soon as the car stopped, he immediately came over to open the door. When he saw Dominic’s injuries, even the experienced Dr. Lewis gasped.
“Damn, your old Alpha really went hard on you!” he exclaimed, his usual cheerful demeanor replaced by genuine shock.
“What nonsense are you talking about?!” Dominic frowned, his Alpha authority flaring despite his injuries.
“Hurry up and help!”
Dr. Lewis was amused by his anger but still resignedly helped Dominic carefully out of the car, mindful of his
wounded friend’s pride.
“Alright, alright, let’s get you treated,” he said soothingly.
The group was directly led by Dr. Lewis to the treatment room, where everything was prepared in advance. Medical supplies were laid out with military precision.
When a nurse tried to help Dominic remove his shirt, he blocked her with a growl and looked at Dr. Lewis with
a frown.
“You do it,” he commanded firmly.
Dr. Lewis was stunned for a moment, then nodded cheerfully. “Okay, okay, I’ll do it.”
He smiled and told the other medical staff to leave, understanding his friend’s Alpha privacy concerns.
I stood beside Dominic, uncertain whether to leave or stay. My wolf whimpered with concern at his pained
scent.
Just as Dr. Lewis was about to help Dominic undress to treat his wounds, Dominic suddenly hissed in pain. “Ouch… be gentle! You’re so clumsy! Can you do this?”
Dr. Lewis laughed in exasperation. “If I can’t do it, then get someone who can!”
“Dr. Lewis…” I quickly played peacemaker, sensing the tension rising. “Dominic is in pain and in a bad mood,
so…”
Dr. Lewis waved his hand dismissively. “Miss Summers, you do it. Help this stubborn Alpha take off his clothes, otherwise with all these injuries, there’s no way to apply the healing herbs.”
I nodded and instinctively reached out to unbutton Dominic’s shirt, my hands gentle on the torn fabric. At first I didn’t think much of it, focused only on helping him.
But when I had unbuttoned everything and was helping him remove his clothes, I suddenly realized what I was doing.
Dominic was sitting on an examination table, looking up at me. His powerful Alpha presence somehow felt vulnerable in this moment.
Even though he was half a head taller than me when standing, when our eyes met his deep, silver–gray gaze, i

felt immense pressure.
Those eyes were staring straight at me, bright yet carrying a uniquely masculine Alpha intensity.
Not to mention his open shirt revealing his strong, muscular but wounded chest, the scent of his Alpha pheromones intensifying despite his injuries….
