Chapter 141: Confrontation
(Aria’s POV)
The pregnancy wasn’t something I deliberately concealed from my colleagues. Such matters were deeply private, especially when the pup’s father was Dominic Blackwood, the Alpha King himself. The complications surrounding our situation made it impossible to discuss openly.
But seeing Jason Hart’s gaze fall on my abdomen with complete disbelief written all over his face, I realized f needed to address what Dominic had just revealed. My wolf whimpered anxiously within me as I opened my mouth to explain.
“Jason, I should probably tell you-”
Before I could finish my confession, Dominic suddenly chuckled, his powerful Alpha presence filling the
conference room like a warm blanket.
“Just kidding,” he said with that infuriating casual tone. “Don’t take it seriously.”
Jason’s expression immediately shifted from shock to irritation. His wolf’s scent spiked with barely contained anger as he turned to face Dominic directly.
“Not everything can be joked about,” Jason said firmly, his voice carrying more authority than I’d ever heard from him before. “Some topics require proper respect.”
Dominic’s silver–gray eyes flashed dangerously, his Alpha aura intensifying in response to the challenge. The temperature in the room seemed to drop several degrees.
“And what business is it of yours to interfere with my jokes with my former schoolmate?” Dominic countered smoothly, his voice deceptively calm.
The underlying threat in his words was unmistakable. Jason’s face paled slightly, but he didn’t back down immediately.
“I work with Aria every day. I care about her wellbeing and comfort in our workplace.”
“How considerate of you,” Dominic replied, his tone dripping with sarcasm. “But I believe I know her comfort level better than you do,”
The tension between the two men escalated rapidly. They stared each other down across the distance, their gazes clashing in mid–air like sparks from a forge.
Their wolves‘ aggressive pheromones filled the air, making it thick and uncomfortable. I could feel n pregnant wolf responding to the hostile energy, whimpering anxiously beneath my skin.
The confrontation was becoming unbearable. Other colleagues had begun to notice the charged atmosphere, glancing nervously between the two Alphas.
“I’m hungry,” I announced loudly/desperate to break the tension. “Dominic, didn’t you mention something about food?”
Both men immediately turned their attention to me, their aggressive postures softening slightly,

Dominic finally broke eye contact with Jason, his expression shifting to concern as he looked at me
“Of course. I had a meal prepared in my office. It should be ready now.”
He moved toward me with smooth Alpha grace, his protective instincts clearly activated,
“Come on, let’s go before it gets cold.”
I stood up quickly, gathering my things while avoiding Jason’s confused gaze. The poor man was probably wondering what had just happened.
“Jason, you should rest after such a long day working on the herbal remedy formulations,” I suggested, trying to smooth things over. “We can discuss the project details tomorrow.”
Jason nodded slowly, though his eyes never left Dominic’s imposing figure.
“Take care of yourself, Aria,” he said quietly, the words carrying more weight than a simple goodbye.
Dominic’s jaw tightened almost imperceptibly, but he managed to maintain his composure as he guided me toward the door.
Once we were alone in Dominic’s office with the door firmly closed, I turned to face him with a disapproving frown. My wolf bristled beneath my skin as I glared at him.
“What was that about?” I demanded.
Dominic immediately raised his hands in surrender, his silver–gray eyes showing what appeared to be genuine
remorse.
“I’m sorry,” he said, his voice contrite. “I shouldn’t have made things awkward in front of your colleagues.”
But I knew him too well to believe his innocent act. With his high intelligence and Alpha instincts, he had deliberately made that comment about our pup in front of Jason.
“You’re not really sorry,” I accused. “You knew exactly what you were doing.”
Dominic’s lips twitched with suppressed amusement, confirming my suspicions.
“Why do you always target Jason?” I pressed. “He’s never done anything to you.”
“I don’t know him personally,” Dominic admitted with a shrug. “But I can sense his intentions toward you. They’re not purely professional.”
“That’s ridiculous. Jason is just a colleague.”
“Is he? Then why does his scent change every time he looks at you? Why does he find excuses to spend time alone with you?”
I felt heat rise in my cheeks. “You’re being possessive and overthinking everything.”
“Maybe,” Dominic conceded. “But my instincts are rarely wrong about these things.
Rather than continue the argument, he dropped the subject and directed my attention to the coffee table. A covered tray sat there, emanating delicious aromas that made my stomach growl.
“Eat,” he commanded gently, lifting the cover to reveal hot venison stew and fresh bread. The food is getting
cold.”
His Alpha scent wrapped around me protectively as he handed me the warm bowl. Despite my irritation with

his behavior, I couldn’t deny that the meal looked perfectly prepared.
“I heard about Alexander’s visit to your company today,” Dominic mentioned casually as I began to eat. And the flowers ending up in the trash.”
His lips curved into a satisfied smile that told me he was clearly amused by this information.
“How did you hear about that?” I asked between spoonfuls.
“I have my sources. The important thing is that you handled it appropriately.”
Just as he was about to continue the conversation, his mobile phone rang loudly. The sharp sound cut through the comfortable atmosphere like a blade.
Dominic glanced at the caller ID, and his satisfied smile immediately vanished completely. His wolf’s scent shifted dramatically, tension radiating from his suddenly rigid posture.
“I need to take this,” he said grimly, his voice carrying an edge I rarely heard.
Without waiting for my response, he stepped outside the office, leaving me alone with my meal and growing
concern.
The sudden change in his demeanor was alarming. Something about that phone call had triggered a reaction I’d never witnessed from him before.
In all the time I’d known Dominic, he had always maintained his composure, even in the most stressful situations. Seeing him genuinely worried made my wolf whimper with anxiety.
Whatever was happening, it was serious enough to shake even the Alpha King’s confidence.
I continued eating mechanically, though my appetite had diminished considerably. The venison stew that had tasted delicious moments before now seemed flavorless.

When Dominic returned ten minutes later, his expression was even more grave. The lines around his deepened, and his jaw was set in a way that suggested he was bracing for something unpleasant. “Everything alright?” I asked, though I had already finished eating and was cleaning up the empty dishes. “Leave that,” he said curtly, then caught himself and softened his tone. “I mean, don’t worry about cleaning up. I’ll take care of it later.”
He moved toward his desk, gathering some papers with quick, efficient movements.
–“Let me drive you back to Moon Valley Residences,” he offered. “I have my luxury SUV downstairs.”
I could tell he had urgent matters to attend to, despite his offer to drive me home. My wolf was surprisingly calm despite the obvious tension radiating from him.
“You don’t need to drive me,” I said gently. “I can call a taxi. You should handle whatever business is pressing.” Dominic’s grateful expression told me I had read the situation correctly.
“Are you sure? I don’t want you traveling alone at night.”
“I’ll be fine. The taxi service is reliable, and it’s not that late.”
Before I could stand up from the coffee table, hurried footsteps approached from outside the office. The rapid pace suggested urgency, possibly panic.

Dominic’s expression darkened further, his Alpha pheromones spiking with tension. His wolf clearly recognized the approaching scent.
The office door burst open without any preliminary knock. Hunter Hayes rushed in, his normally composed demeanor completely shattered.
“Alpha, something’s wrong!” he exclaimed breathlessly.
“Stop,” Dominic commanded sternly, his Alpha authority cutting through Hunter’s panic like a whip. Take her home first.”
Hunter’s frantic gaze shifted between Dominic and me, clearly torn between his urgent message and his Alpha’s direct order.
“What’s happening?” I asked, unable to contain my curiosity any longer.
Dominic’s tension was becoming infectious, making my pregnant wolf increasingly anxious.
“Nothing serious,” Dominic said, though his casual tone didn’t match his rigid posture. “My father has come to visit. We haven’t seen each other for nearly half a year.”
He paused, running a hand through his dark hair.
“These reunions can be… intense. You shouldn’t get involved in our family pack dynamics.”
Relief flooded through me at his explanation. A family visit, while potentially stressful, was far better than the catastrophe t had been imagining.
“Of course,” I agreed quickly. “You should have your private conversation without distractions.”
My pregnant wolf needed to avoid unnecessary stress anyway. Family disputes could become volatile, especially between powerful Alphas.
“Hunter will drive you home safely,” Dominic assured me, his protective instincts still functioning despite his obvious preoccupation.
I gathered my purse and jacket, preparing to leave the two men to their family business.
Hunter and I headed toward the exit, but before we could reach the door, heavy footsteps echoed in the corridor outside. The measured pace suggested authority and determination.
The office door was suddenly pushed open with commanding force.
Two rows of black–suited enforcer wolves filed in with military precision, positioning themselves systematically around the room. Their coordinated movements spoke of extensive training and absolute loyalty.
My heart began to race as I realized this was no ordinary family visit.
A middle–aged man entered behind the enforcers, his presence immediately do ating the space. He bore a striking resemblance to Dominic the same bone structure, the same imposing weight.
But where Dominic’s features held warmth and humor, this man’s face was carved from stone. His lips were pressed into a thin, disapproving line, and his brows were furrowed with barely contained rage.
The family resemblance was undeniable, but the emotional distance between them was palpable. Without warning or greeting, the man strode directly to Dominic and raised his hand.

The sharp c***k of palm meeting cheek echoed through the suddenly silent office.
“You disgraceful Alpha!” the man shouted, his Alpha King command reverberating through the room with terrifying authority. “Kneel down!”
