Iselle’s wedding car pulled into the Durrell family’s old mansion, a grand villa adorned entirely with white decorations. It looked like a wedding hall, yet also resembled a funeral parlor.
When Iselle got off the car, the entire Durrell family was waiting at the door, with not a single person absent.
At the front stood a dignified old man. When he saw Iselle approaching, he even bent down and bowed deeply to her.
“I’m sorry, it was my selfishness that harmed you.”
“I know trying to bring luck may not save Asher, but right now, I don’t want to give up even a glimmer of hope.”
“Don’t worry, if Asher really couldn’t make it, the Durrell family would not leave you to be a widow. We would truly treat you as part of our family, as my own granddaughter.”
“I could fulfill any of your requests.”
Iselle was surprised and quickly stepped forward to support Asher’s father, Dalton Durrell.
Her gaze turned to Elyse, the woman looking at her with kindness. Such a warm look, something her biological parents had never given her.
Iselle felt a pang of bitterness in her heart.
Over the past twenty years, she had regarded the Branor family as everything, afraid of being abandoned, being expelled, holding onto the little hope that the Branor family had given her.

If it weren’t for Delphine shattering her illusions time and time again, she would still be the most loyal dog of the Branor family, willing to do anything for them.
Leaving the Branor family behind, she entered what seemed like a maze to everyone else. The people here, however, assured her that she would find a family.
Everything was so absurd.
Iselle looked at the tears in the eyes of the Durrell family and for a
moment her heart was unsettled.
She turned to Elyse with some surprise, “Madam Durrell, the things I told you before, did you not pass them on to Sir Durrell and Mr. Durrell?”
Elyse led Iselle into the house.
“You can change your mind now.”
“If Asher really survives this ordeal, and you truly develop feelings for him, it’s not too late to change your mind later.”
After finishing speaking, she whispered to Iselle.
“Iselle, I took to heart what you said before, I do hope Asher will get better.”
“We have made countless wishes and been disappointed countless times, but now, everyone cannot bear to be disappointed again.”
“So, I dare not say, perhaps you have a way to save Asher.”
Iselle walked into the house, crossed the garden, and made her way to the secluded standalone villa at the back.

a suit; a set of smoke–gray formal wear was just hanging there.
The Durrell family did not have a marriage certificate, or a marriage agreement prepared. They also knew that trying to bring luck was an impossible task.
When Asher really passed away, they didn’t want Iselle to end up in a second marriage for nothing.

Iselle approached and saw that, although Asher was pale and weak, he was very clean and tidy. Even though he had been lying down for a long time and had lost his muscles, he still looked like a strong and determined
young man.
She suddenly felt a little envious.
What Asher had was the love that she could never ask for, as well as a life that was incredibly meaningful.
Iselle paid her respects to the heavens, her parents, and then bowed to the lying Asher before they exchanged vows as husband and wife.
The Durrell family nodded repeatedly with red eyes, finally showing a hint of joy on their faces.
Just as everyone’s emotions were starting to relax, the instrument suddenly emitted a sharp alarm, symbolizing Asher’s ECG abruptly turning into a flat line.
Despite being well–prepared, Elyse still couldn’t catch her breath and fell straight back, but Asher caught her.
Dalton’s spine, which had never been bent in his lifetime, was bent under
pressure.
Iselle was also taken aback. She prayed in her heart, hoping that the elder woman would keep her promise and help Asher.
