Even Chuck was speechless.
The whole no–jail plan? His idea. Back when Sharon was just an intern, all sweet and soft–spoken. He figured a girl like that
must’ve snapped under pressure. He liked her–enough to cover up what she’d done.
But six years later? She’d only gotten worse. No guilt, no shame.
Yasmine would’ve never pulled this crap.
Chuck’s jaw clenched. He kept seeing Yasmine–steady, decent, strong.
“Sharon, no one here owes you a damn thing. We already cleaned up your mess six years ago. Don’t think you’re untouchable.
Once I find Yasmine, you’re apologizing. If she shuts you down–I’m out.”
Chuck rubbed his temples and walked out, completely drained. He didn’t care about the baby anymore–a fool raising a fool just
meant more of the same.
“Stop right there!” Sharon shot up, eyes blazing. “Chuck, what’s that supposed to mean? You’re leaving me? Don’t forget–you
came up with the plan!”
She looked ready to drag them all down. Chuck froze, like he was finally seeing her for who she really was.
Before he could say anything, she dropped her gaze. “That’s not what I meant.
“Chuck, my parents never treated me right. When I started working, people mocked me for being broke.
“You were the only one who saw me. If you walk away now… what do I have left? I lost it earlier–I didn’t mean any of that. You’ll
forgive me… won’t you?”
The more Sharon begged, the more unsettled Chuck got. Even Sebastian and Caroline started to sweat.
Was this really the same “helpless” girl she always played?
Silence settled over the room. Chuck answered with his back.
Caroline forced out a half–hearted attempt at comfort, but it barely landed.
Days later, things exploded online. The doctor who gave Yasmine the meds got canned Benetton and Adelson Corp? Nationwide
boycotts
Crowds swarmed Adelson HQ, calling out Sebastian for abusing his adopted daughter
Benetton’s offices got trashed Someone even dumped sewage on Chuck’s car.
“A piece of trash belongs in the trash Smells about right.”
“Turn over the killer! This is straight–up criminal. Rich or not–they don’t get a free pass!”

The protests didn’t stop. Sharon’s face was plastered everywhere–even folks digging through dumpsters knew her as the
murderer.
She didn’t dare step outside. Instead, she tore through the house, smashing anything she could get her hands on.
Sebastian and Caroline spent their days scrambling to fix the fallout, only to come home to more of Sharon’s meltdowns.
Resentment boiled over.
Sebastian finally exhaled. “A kid you don’t raise yourself? Never really yours. We never should’ve covered for you. People only
learn when they pay the price. You’re not even a shadow of Yasmine.”
Sharon hated being compared to Yasmine. Always had.
She snapped, grabbed a vase, and lunged at him.
The butler moved fast, shielding him.
One push–and Sharon lost the baby.
When she came to in the hospital, her hand went straight to her belly. Then she asked for Chuck.
The nurse just shook her head. Aside from the maid who brought her in, no one came. Not Sebastian. Not Caroline. Not Chuck.
She’d been dropped. Hard.
