Chapter 9

The night breeze slipped through the trees, carrying a faint scent of cedar.

Alina leaned against the balcony railing, the soft glow from inside still spilling out from the post-bonding ceremony.

In the kitchen, Jace was finishing up with the dishes.

She could feel his presence-his steady, powerful mental link wrapped around her like a protective veil.

So different from Kael’s volatile, suffocating dominance.

Her phone buzzed.

“Alina!” Emma’s voice burst through, bright and lively as ever. “Guess what I did today?”

Alina smirked. “Hmm… Did the trainer praise you? Or had a fight with your Alpha again?”

“Wrong on both counts!* Emma practically squealed. “I just got bonded!”

Alina blinked. “Wait, what? Weren’t you the one who said ‘mate bonds are total bullshit’ like… last week?”

“We fucked twice last night and I can barely walk straight.”

Alina let out a low whistle. “Damn. But also… congrats.”

Thank you,Luna Alina.” Emma’s tone softened a little.

“Actually, I wanted to ask-no, tell-you something. I’m throwing a small bonding party next Saturday night. You have to come.”

Alina toyed with the edge of the communicator wire between her fingers, eyes distant.

You know I’m not really in the mood for-”

‘Alpha Jace is invited too,” Emma cut in smoothly, like she’d been expecting that hesitation. “Already sent the invite. His reply? ‘If my Luna is attending, I’ll be there beside her.’ Cute, huh?”

Alina raised an eyebrow. “You got my mate’s RSVP before even asking me?”

‘Baby, I’m not some clueless pup fresh out of the den.”

Alina chuckled, a small sigh slipping out. “Alright. I’ll come.”

“YES!”

This new life of hers hadn’t even fully begun, and already… the past was catching up.

She turned to go back inside,

“Emma?” he asked.

“Yeah,” Alina nodded, stepping toward him. “She bonded. Invited us to the party next week.”

He walked over, gently tucking a loose strand of her hair behind her ear. His voice was calm, low, like the ocean on a windless night.

“If you’d rather not go-

“I want to,” she said, meeting his gaze. “We should be there. Proud. Together. As Luna and Alpha.”

He leaned down, kissed her forehead, and murmured with a smirk,

You meam Whatever my Luna says.”

The day was coming,we attend Emma’s party.

“Welcome.Alina!”

“Oh, and one more thing, Emma had added with a wicked giggle. “You better be the one to catch the bouquR this time. I swear, if some other bitch snatches it, I’m calling a redo.”

Three….Two…One!”
